Aikou Chinese - Lee's Summit

We used to come here a lot before the pandemic. I thought the food was great with sizable portions, large shrimp, and a good ratio of meat to vegetables. We did takeout a month ago or so and instantly noticed the change in the size of the orders. The takeout containers are much smaller, there is less meat in each dish, and even with smaller containers they don't fill them completely. We decided to give it one more try and it was the same problem. But, this time we really noticed that the flavor is really lacking. I'm pretty sure they cooks that were there before the pandemic are no longer there. Regardless, it's bland, the shrimp aren't large, they are medium sized and the amount of meat per order is much less.

Think hole-in-the-wall for atmosphere and you can imagine the room you enter into. Then, think GREAT tasting food and you can imagine the treat your tongue is in for. It's really good food folks!

The food was amazing. Great service and the chicken was delicious. Definitely coming back!

I usually get good food from here, but I tried something different this time…sweet and sour shrimp. NEVER again, over battered, pricey, and did not taste good. I was disappointed.

Family owned. Excellent food. Reasonable price. Very friendly people. Small hole in the wall place. Best kind.
