Bidrage med feedbackWe enjoyed a delicious meal last night, made even more special with a 50% off deal that attracted a crowd. The updated menu featured some old favorites. The portions were decent and the service was good, though there were some items missing. The feather blade of beef was tasty but lacked the promised roasted root vegetables. The mixed grill included a small piece of gammon and half a mushroom. Despite these minor issues, we still plan on returning in the future.
This is an Ember Inn pub, but the staff make it an individual place to go for a meal out, anytime! Especially last night when there was an excellent kitchen team on: Garry Joe Holly3 With table booked, in advance, they had given thought to where we would be seated as it was a quizz night later. All the food drinks were served with care, and were most enjoyable. Our thanks to James, Jack Holly4 Maia and Imo (apologies if any names spelt incorrectly for serving us. Back next week to try the lunches :
The meal began with crusty bread and margarine served with the soup. The main course of fish and chips was also accompanied by margarine and bread. For dessert, we had an average microwaved sticky toffee pudding with custard.
This really is a great venue. We visited on steak night. Ordered two steaks cooked to perfection medium rare served with chips, peas, onion rings and tomatoes. Absolutely delicious. I’ve not been to the White Cross for a while, but was very pleasantly surprised when I visited with some friends recently. We had lunch which was really good and very good value for money. We had the battered mushrooms to start, which were really tasty, the hot chicken salad which was very good and sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was gorgeous. We all commented on how good the quality of the food was and such good value for money. Maya the waitress could not do enough for us and was very polite and friendly. Gabby the Manager was very welcoming to us and we asked her to pass on compliments to the chef Andy. We had a very pleasant afternoon and I would definitely recommend. We will be back for certain.
