Bidrage med feedbackI had arranged to meet my family at the Cottage Coffee shop which is next to a large free car park. Unfortunately as we walked through the car park my son slipped over on the slippy leaves turned his ankle very badly and was covered in mud. On arrival in the cafe the owner could not have helped us enough. She gave us an ice pack for my son’s ankle offering ibruprofen and generally making us feeling very cared for. Coupled with the lovely foods best pumpkin soup I have ever tasted and the really polite serving staff it was a wonderful visit despite the circumstances.
We popped in on a rainy Monday afternoon for coffee and cake. There was a family there when we arrived but they left leaving only us 2 in the cafe. We both ordered coffee and cake. We were sat right next to the kitchen and the door was open so we could here the staff chatting and then a microwave pinging, twice. We can only assume it was for our coffee as they were piping hot and the cakes were served cold. We ordered americano flat white so we assumed the coffee was from a proper coffee machine, it did not taste like it was!? We can only guess they have a jug of filter coffee they heat up in the microwave? The cakes on display look amazing but only tasted average, a bit dry if anything. We had lemon drizzle and apple blackberry crumble. Not a good look to be covered in cling film although inside nice glass display cabinets. As the building was once a house the rooms although quirky are a bit small and cramped. It is situated in a lovely spot though with fabulous gardens so I am sure on a sunny day it is very nice to sit outside where there is lots of chairs and tables.
We always remember this absolute gem, just off the A1, next to the large free but sometimes crowded car park. We generally have Coffee or Tea and scones. Although the food and service is excellent these days it’s a little expensive, but I understand the pressures of running a business like this today.
My Wife and I called in yesterday afternoon with a friend to celebrate his birthday. We received a very warm welcome from the owner and the young waitress both of whom were charming. The service was excellent and the scones were so tasty. Many thanks and we will be back.
During our journey back south, we decided to make a stop in Wetherby and were delighted to discover this friendly coffee shop. The cheese and ham toastie and beans on toast were both outstanding. The cappuccino was delicious and served piping hot, while the tea was just perfect. There's something about Yorkshire that always seems to enhance the flavor. This is a charming establishment that is definitely worth a visit.
