Bidrage med feedbackTook my wife there for dinner and we loved it so much I just had to go back, so I took my daughter there for lunch and she loved it too. Excellent, unpretentious place, absolutely beautiful food, cooked to perfection, brilliant service by knowledgeable, friendly and professional staff and great wines in spotlessly clean glasses, clean cutlery, not to mention crisp white tablecloths. It was like going back 20 years to when you were valued as a customer by small independents, at Oscar’s, you still are. 100% recommended.
This gem of a restaurant has became our favourite place. From the welcoming staff, incredible champagne food we cannot fault it we have been 4 times now and each time we have nothing but positive things to say. Their steak is by far one of the best we have had and you feel like your tucked away in France. A real gem of a place. Look forward to many more great times here.
Really good french bistro. the meat from Aubrey Allen is amazing (in photo French rump cap with peppercorn sauce, £25). the interiors are also very nice and simple. Booked at 9pm with a group of 5, service was excellent, everything arrived in a timely manner and cooked as asked. Wine was also very good
We were celebrating a friend’s bday and opted for the set menu. I would not have booked that if it meant you were treated as the poor relations 1. Portion sizes were tiny I mean 4 pieces of beef in the stroganoff, tiny blob of mash and nothing else! 2. The desert could not have been any smaller my partner’s was boxed and he had it thrown at him it bounced onto the floor although clearly an accident, no apology or offer of replacement! 3. No one returned to the table to ask if we wanted a second drink 4. No one offered coffee despite every other table having it 5. Staff were rushing past us like there was no tomorrow All in all very disappointing service and it’s the first time I’ve left a restaurant very hungry!
We felt rushed from the start, given the wine menu and asked what we wanted before we’d even sat down. Set French meal lovely for the husband’s birthday I thought. How very disappointing. Cream cheese with a variety of lettuces for a starter, dessert crossed out on the menu, but no alternative given were we going to have a dessert or not? Wait and see. Hadn’t finished eating the starter when the plates were take away. Lots of French bread the menu said the bread basket wasn’t replenished and it wasn’t tip top fresh. The main course of confit duck leg, lentils and carrot was excellent. Dessert arrived a sort of Eton mess very English, not French. So having been rushed throughout we asked for the bill and then waited, then gave up as the waiter was too busy flirting with other customers, so we left our table and paid downstairs, sadly this waiter was not surprised at our comments. I had high expectations, so very disappointed, won’t be going there again. Rather spoilt birthday treat.
