After we had planned a stop in Le Mans while we were on a very long road in Europe, it was with a mixture of curiosity and scepticism that we booked the Auberge de Bagatelle. What a great surprise was it! Everything was impeccable, the menu enchants a treat at every step, the sommelier, both knowledgeable and very pleasant, made the journey through the dishes even more fascinating. The service was efficient and smooth, lasted to perfection without race (from the point) between the courses, and we left with the desire to return to Le Mans to one of these days. We visited Auberge de Bagatelle for the Menu Degustation, the seven course tasting menu. The experience was unconsistent from the beginning to the end, but overall we were disappointed and would not return. First, good. The sommelier was excellent, incredibly warm and charming. A...Friend of the courses were very good, 'L 'ouef Pane et Frit' was very impressive, and the 'Walk in the woods in the morning' (a chocolate desert) just as delicious. Not so good now: Staff: With the exception of the sommelier mentioned above, we found some of the employees who are cold and unwilling. We were particularly surprised that no one seemed to know the names of the cheese we were offered in the course of the cheese. There was a smoked cheese that we especially liked and inquired so that we could buy more, but all that we were offered was 'we can write up the name where we had it from ' (that never happened, we did not ask anymore). I expect more from a Michael Star restaurant as a minimum staff should know the names of the offer. Tempo: We sat for 25 minutes before we get a menu or have a drink. When we got the menu, we only got the 'Menu au fil des saisons' and had to ask for 'menu degustation', although we had expressly requested it when booking. We sat 90 minutes on the second course. The remaining 5 courses of coffee took place in 90 minutes. So the first half felt very slow, and the second half felt sometimes hurried. Food: with the exception of the two dishes mentioned above, food was not particularly inspiring or unforgettable. In particular, the main meat bowl glued as a lack of interesting taste and texture. Overall it was 't terrible in itself, but I expected a lot more polish and consistency from a michelin played dinner at £300 .
Everything was presented beautifully and cooked perfectly. I appreciated that the chef managed to blend risk taking and traditional French cuisine. The spider crab dish was a star; however, I continue thinking about the sear on the endive accompanying the scallop (and the other side...elements of that dish which managed to demonstrate a subdued balance/restraint despite numerous elements). Bravo chef. I would be curious what the place is like with Warner weather because the gem of the atmosphere appears to be the outside area in the front.
I personally I enjoyed what I ordered (cocktail, appetizer, sashimi, red mullet, chocolate tart). Even though the service was impeccable I don’t think I would go back. I feel like it’s pricey for no reason... Don’t get me wrong it’s good but not that good.
Very warm welcome. The server was good advice. we took the formula at 33€ in which there was a glass of wine for each dish. We'll go back. (think to book )orlane and fabric
