Bidrage med feedbackWe visit Le Castellet, and walking in the village we just pass close the restaurant, I have seen the menu and the ambient, then we came back for dinner.Excellent service, food and wines don't miss to have your lunch or dinner outside in the terrace.
Very pleasant Valentine Day's dinner with our 2 adult sons to celebrate our 30th anniversary. A set menu of which I had the lobster asparagus cold soup, fish tartar of sea loup, scallops with an asparagus risotto and a three desert assortment taster. Nice local wines and friendly staff. It was a full house that night.
The young lady who served me was very friendly, but either inexperienced or not particularly capable, as she was easily ovewhelemed with the most basic requests (even though my French is more than adequate). Overall things took a very long time. The view from the terrace was very good, but the interior was not particularly comfortable. The food (I had "Ravioli Loup Sauvage" was alright, but I made the schoolboy error of not asking about the sauce....which was simply loads of butter, cream and chives, and the portion size was really very small. Only one wine of each colour available from the glass, all three from the same producer, making simple IGP wines even though they produce in the Bandol AOP zone. It was a bit pricey, but where is it not in this part of the country?
Four years ago we had a splendid lunch there - very good food, nice and friendly service, warm atmosphere. We decided to invite our friends for lunch now. The decoration and the ambiance of the restaurant is completely changed! Loud music, strange decoration (for example - moving bubbles of water or light (?) on the wall, making people nervous), service in some way professional, but you don't feel they are friendly. And we waited and waited and waited. The starters were very good (tartare de bœuf), fish was correct. Everything was very sophisticated.
We booked in advance as it was Saturday night but Me Castellet wasn't too busy when we got there. Food was good, small portions, immaculately presented, but you feel a bit out on a limb. View is lovely if you can get one of the few terrace tables but I would rather be in the atmosphere of the town. We went for a wander after dinner and would try another place next time. Worth getting there at 6/6.30 pm for a shop before dinner as shops closed at 7-8pm.
