Bidrage med feedbackNot usually a fan of Pub Grub, although I must admit that for lunch on a rainy day I ordered the Porterhouse Steak, which was excellent, cooked to perfection with a beautiful pot mushroom sauce, a great help of very beautiful... Chips and a salad. The nice young merciful was a pleasure and we were very impressed by their kind. Previously, we had steak eaten in high-end restaurants and it was terrible compared to this meal. It is not a five-star establishment to definitely say that fortunately I would give ten out of ten for our meals, and the service we receive.
Nice friendly place for pub food but nothing fantastic meal on the upper floor no wine list presented to choose from house wine, was usually our meals were good
This was our first pub outing after the coronavirus lockdown, which added a certain excitement to the venture. Still being fairly new in Launceston and being rather cheated of opportunities for eating out lately I was keen to try the Gunners Arms. We 've driven past...it on the way to Kmart, you know, oh that looks nice, we must go there sort of thing. I rang up to check if they were open for meals, yes, then I mentioned I can 't walk up stairs to their dining room, not a problem, will set you a table in the back bar downstairs. We arrived and good as their word. There 's also a disabled toilet, and level access. Now for the meal. We 've all been craving chicken schnitzel and so we had chicken schnitzel with chips and salad. My youngest son had parmigiana, my eldest son and I had red wine and pepper sauce with our schnitzel, the red wine and pepper sauce was divine! The schnitzels were panko crumbed, crisp and golden on the outside and well cooked but still moist and juicy on the inside, perfect! Chips were the same, well cooked fluffy on the inside and crispy golden on the outside. I loved the salad, mesclun with red onion, julienned carrots, finely sliced red cabbage and chefs own delicious french style salad dressing, lovely. I could not fault the meal. We also ordered a garlic/cheese bread from the starters menu, it was a pizza and totally yummy. I can 't drink due to health reasons but they had some interesting looking alcoholic beverages on tap, Spreyton cider for instance. There 's also a lovely real wood burning fireplace in the front bar. Do not be alarmed by the 'bison ' head over the bar, he 's of the species 'plasticus syntheticus '. I 'm looking forward to returning to the Gunners Arms to try other things from their interesting looking menu.
Having worked up an appetite walking in Cataract Gorge on the way back to the motel we spotted the Wednesday special advertised outside the pub, being schnitzel and a beer for $15. We couldn 't resist and certainly made the right decision. I had pork schnitzel,...my wife chicken schnitzel, both delicious and served with a good portion of chips and salad. Add a lovely glass of Boags draught and a pleasant atmosphere what 's not to like?
