Le Passage Au Verre - Laon

In the season over night in laon stopped and this restaurant greeted us cordially, although they had no reservation and had booked a large group this evening. simple eating with high quality ingredients and well cooked. the whole meal was super, and probably the best burger. I have ever eaten! beautiful weeping through the glass and not sharing a problem with a dessert. not expensive. very friendly couple, Beatles enthusiasts, what is not to love!? would we go back if we were to visit Laon again.

Warm welcome, wonderful food, very interesting and reasonable wine list, all a superb value. The option of tapas or regular sized main course means you can eat big or small. Although lots of options besides the famous hamburger (made with the regional moroilles cheese) it...is great. The wines are all selected by the owner who's happy to discuss them in French or English. Isn't a restaurant always solid when the owner serves you your meal?

Nice tapas and wine bar concept, nice decor. We brought two hungry kids in here before lunch closing, but we were really warmly welcomed. We made a quick decision on food and they recommended wine to go with. A burger is far from my...usual choice but thought we may need to share it with the kids, should they be fussy with their own choices. Needn't have worried as they loved theirs, and the burger was one of the best I have ever had, really tender, flavoursome patty, with creamy cheese melted on it. Waiter gave us the detail of the cheese (St Nazaire) as we loved it so much. The chicken kebab with tomato salad dish was also really succulent, tender and full of flavour.

Stopped over at Laon on our way back home and were looking for a last French lunch. Were not disappointed here at all: lovely burger (perhaps just a tad too cheesy to my taste), delicious tartare and superb homemade fries. Service was very courteous, and...there was a lovely organic craft beer to go with the food. The interior is lovely and trendy.
