Grange Cleveland Winery - Lancefield

The Grange is a collection of motel/conference centers, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect, even though it's located at a winery. The a la carte dinner, featuring a large veal rib eye, was much better than the breakfast buffet, which had bacon that wasn't crispy enough. Despite this, the food was above average for a conference center. If you visit, I recommend asking to stay in the homestead instead of the standard accommodations. The homestead is a beautiful old building that has been fully restored to its original grandeur, with impressive timber work and charming stained glass windows depicting animals. The restaurant is housed in the old carriage house building, with high ceilings, exposed timber beams, and a lovely deck where you can enjoy your morning coffee while taking in the views of the farmland. The veal was a bit tough, but had a good, flavorful rib eye taste. I was particularly impressed with the pannacotta dessert, which had a subtle orange undertone. The wine, a Pinot Noir, was also quite good, fitting for a cold climate wine region.
