Bidrage med feedbackGreat service and just a cool place to grab a great quality burger. Had the prey melt. Delicious. First time here.
The Meat Goes On A bit of a quirky place here, as I'm not sure if it's a meat shop that also happens to sell burgers or vice-versa? Judging by the website, I'd guess the latter as all it shows is their burger menu. Irregardless of which witch is which, Cabalar serves up high-quality beef that they grind themselves and make some tasty burgers. The Good: *Their meat selection looked amazing. Next time we're in town, I'm stopping by for a few steaks to throw on the grill. *Burgers were quite good and had nice flavor. We both really enjoyed the brioche roll that they served them on. *Poutine was #FuckingDelicious. Their fantastic tallow fries, topped with curds and a beef gravy, were heaven on earth. *If you didn't read the above, their fries are with mentioning twice: they're fan-fucking-tastic. Fried up in tallow and seasoned liberally with salt and pepper, these fries are worth every penny you pay for them. *Fried Pickles (aka Frickles) were also delicious. Served up crispy and hot; they were a delicious, tangy way to start our meal. *Mad Chef Taproom inside the restaurant to complete your meal with some of their delicious craft brews. The Meh: *Not a whole lot of space to dine in, as it's mostly the bar seating around the perimeter of the restaurant. There were a few tables outside, but they didn't seem too appealing. *My dry-aged burger was a bit dry. I'm not sure if that's due to the dry-aged beef or what? *Burgers come with a salad standard. You have to buy a side of fries to taste their potatoey goodness, but trust me--you better. The Ugly: *Located in Downtown Lancaster, the parking situation can be a bit stressful depending on what day you visit. TLDR: Tasty burgers with some of the best fries I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and get the poutine. You're welcome.
I say this with 100% confidence but Cabalar has the best burgers in the city. I'm not a huge burger/red meat fan, but I crave them all the time. Their milkshakes are to die for and their onion rings are the best I've ever had. The only downside is they are so popular, they are always busy. My pro tip is that you can order ahead for pick up and it's generally ready sooner than if you order in person. It's a nice vibe too because you can get a beer from the brewery stall at the back of the restaurant while you wait. Such an amazing place!
The only thing you can complain about is the wait lol. This was a truly awesome burger and fries.
This place is a must if you're in Lancaster city! One of the best burger places I have ever had. The feel of the place is very... Homey and local like. It doesn't have that generic corporate feel. It's a local butchery where you can get the goods but, also make super delicious food. We tried couple appetizers and burgers for our own. The pull pork Mac n cheese and simply delicious. The meat is tender and pack pull off flavors and add onto that a very cheesey mac n cheese that is infused with the juices of the brisket. Simply... Delicious. The poutine fries is good but there a lot going on. The flavor works but, it gets a bit messy. I like my fries crispy but obviously with all the things on top of fries, makes it a bit soggy. But the flavor is there! The burgers are all delicious. I (accidently) preferred the patty melt thinking it was a double patty burger but... It's a melt sandwich (I'm just stupid). But what a wonderful mistake! Because it's square shaped instead of round burger shape, each bite is like taking the first bite. The steakhouse burger is a blue cheese lovers burger. Has a lot of that blue cheese flavor so if you're not into that (like my wife) I wouldn't recommend it. I personally love it so, I ate it up. The final burger was the jalapeno cheddar burger. This had the most balance flavor; the spice cuts into the richness of the burger. Special shout out to the buns is the burger... I would buy a pack of just the bread if I could. It's so freaking delicious!!!! The milkshake is ok; nothing really special but again, if you had a massive meal and want something sweet to even it out, is a nice finish to your meal. This place is a must in Lancaster city!!! I'm for sure going back to try everything else on the menu
