Fred's Southern Kitchen Lakeland

The waitress, Micha, was very friendly. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely. The food had a southern flair and was even served in old-fashioned pots. I wish the dessert selection had more variety, like bread pudding, but overall it was a delightful experience. The swinging chairs outside the front entrance added a charming country touch.

We live an hour away from this restaurant and don't visit often. However, when we are in the area, we always make a point to dine at Fred's Market. The food here never disappoints. The pulled pork is amazing and the fried chicken is delicious. Tonight they also served ribs, turkey with gravy, chicken fried steak with gravy, and always have crispy roasted catfish. If you love vegetables, they have a wide variety to choose from. They also offer a salad bar, but who comes to a buffet for salad?

The buffet at this restaurant is a must-try! Initially, I was a bit hesitant about the price of $18.49 for unlimited buffet trips (at the time of writing), but I was happy to discover options like a Veggie only or even a single dish option for a cheaper price. The food reminded me of what my grandmother used to cook for me, taking all day to prepare... and it was phenomenal! The pot roast, BBQ, and collar were all cooked to perfection, living up to the restaurant's motto of "Slow Food, Fast". Along with delicious dishes, the service was exceptional, making it a 5-star buffet in my book. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Here's the deal! If you want REAL Southern cooking! And I mean REAL in the cast iron cook! This is the place to come!! It is a buffet restaurant and worth the price! There was nothing I tried at the bar, that was not good. The fried green tomatoes and the sweet potato cerrols were like Grandma does! The fried chicken and the potatoes let me ask if my mother's spirit was running the chefs in the kitchen. So, if you've ever been in Lakeland Florida and want to be on the best South cuisine outside mothers and Grandmas cuisine. Stop and celebrate this amazing food!!

This place is never a disappointment. Good home style southern food and excellent friendly service. Their safety protocols and hand washing make buffets safe again.
