Ruben's - Lake Station

Nice local eatery with excellent food...great lunch spot!

They have the best Italian beef sandwich in town they may be a little slow at times but worth the wait must try

Unfortunately the food doesn't match the iconic looks. I was so excited when I saw the jolly fat man out front and the classic design of the building that I whipped a hard left in heavy traffic to go inside. Burger was bad and I only ate half. Staff was friendly and engaging, and my onion rings were good I think if you get the frozen fried stuff it will be fine, but the made to order burger was dry, unseasoned, and didn't even fit the bun it was served on. There are so many diner drive thru gems in NW Indiana this could be one of them, but they have a lot of work to do.

Only one cook so service not that fast as other restaurants of the same kind of food. Usually your in and out quick. Inside of restaurant is dated.

They have amazing food. The service is excellent, I've never had a problem and I've been going here for YEARS.
