Bidrage med feedbackI'm so sad that Oven Shaker changed their kale salad. I loved the old salad with the finely shredded kale, grapefruit, delicious dressing and crunchy bread crumbs. The new salad has large pieces of kale, a boring balsamic dressing, and way too many hazelnuts. It lacks the sweet counterpart to the bitter greens. The kale salad used to be one of the main reasons I came to O S.
It was good but I felt this time (first time gluten free pizza ? the the dough was a bit smoochy .... and I missed my old crew serving team All the waitresses were new to me ... but it doesn't mean they were bad .. just different ...
Slow pizza service due to take out orders. We waited for 30 minutes with no mention of the wait time or why. Great house salad! Good bar and drinks. Huge sports TV on that is distracting for entire restaurant, and no one watching it at 5pm.
We have eaten at O&S (in Northwest) before and really enjoyed the salads and pizza. Last night was a different story. The Nostrana salad was as expected, very tasty and rich. In contrast, the kale salad was like eating weeds. The stalk was left on the leaf, which I have never thought was a favorable way to serve kale nor a good texture. It also had brown spots and seemed like a very poor quality for kale; the salad was pretty much unedible. I did provide feedback to our server about the kale stalk, as prior to order, she had mentioned that they had re-vamped the kale with a more favorable recipe. Hmmmmm... After our salads, the tomato pizza came which the menu describes as tomato sauce, garlic, red onion, mama lil 's peppers, kalamata olives, oregano . Based on the description, we expected flavor and some heat. To the contrary, the pizza crust was totally undercooked (like eating raw dough). The tomato sauce wouldn 't stay on the crust; it slid off as we tried to eat it. The sauce had no heat or flavor either. Needless to say, we were very disappointed.
The place was dead on a Wednesday evening after having booked for my daughter's birthday in advance. We were placed at a table that appeared to be used in a shared dining experience with a large obtrusive bar that separated both sides of the table and also allowed for pizzas to be stacked on top of. Unfortunately it was not great for sitting with two children while trying to have good conversation. When I approached the hostess about relocating to a table that allowed all of us to see each other and engage in better conversation, she told me that all table of which 2/3 were currently empty, would be utilized within the next 30-40 minutes. So, rather than utilize tables that are being held, clearly losing revenue, we decided that it was best to relocate to a restaurant where we could enjoy each other's company. So we headed to Chucky's Pies in Lake Oswego that provided a fantastic birthday experience for our 10 year olds birthday! The hostess at Oven and Shaker was not accommodating in any way and we would have been willing to even wait a bit for a different table but the message delivered was take it or leave it. If you are a business in a high lease area, keeping tables full is paramount. Sitting on empty tables is just lost revenue and lost repeat business, I wish them the best but know they should consider that many restaurants operate with out reservations for this very reason.
