China City - Lake Hiawatha

The food here is always fresh, always prepared exactly as requested (and we generally ask for a lot: vegetarian, extra tofu, no egg, no utensils, sauces, or cookies etc... . They are always polite on the phone, always done on time and handed over with a smile in a simple paper bag, well packed, and heaping, generous portions for a fair price. In the wasteland of Parsippany take-out this little hole-in-the-wall place shines bright. Nothing much to look at, yet the kitchen is run by hard working people who, day in and day out, consistently serve up tasty, fairly healthy food (albeit a tad salty, but that's a given with most restaurant food . What would we do without China City! We are so grateful! Xiexie!

The food here is excellent. I've ordered the house special chow fun, beef and broccoli, fried scallops and vegetable lo mein. There are only 3 tables, so most people take out their order. Very friendly restaurant. My 5 year old loves the chicken wings too.

I've been visiting this restaurant for many years, and I can't believe I haven't reviewed it until now. It truly is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. We've tried several, but we always return to China City. The food is fresh and flavorful, the portions are generous, and our orders are always ready at the promised time. The family that operates the restaurant is fantastic. During a significant part of COVID, they had to close, and we had a hard time finding a suitable alternative. When they reopened, the lines outside were a clear indication that many others felt the same way.
