Midcity Smokehouse - Lafayette

Was not what I expected. Would have to think twice before we go back.

Sat at bar with 5 star service, she was knowledge and friendly. Shared whole hog dinner, meat and sides were cooked and proportion to perfection. Will definitely be returning soon.

The service has always been really good at Midcity, but the food has always left a lot to be desired. My most recent visit was met with mediocre barbeque. The brisket I ordered, sliced, was about 30—40% fat. I know what they were going for, giving an entire slice of brisket from the point and the flat, but the big fat divider in between was off putting. Food is a joke. Dry brisket, not sure how you can’t dry out brisket. Corn muffin, hard, like three day old. Nice atmosphere and good music. Sorry though, terrible food.

Finally a BBQ joint that does it right. Tchoup's is a BBQ restaurant that takes up the craft to another level. The bacon burnt ends are the stuff that dreams are made of and I'm a big fan of their wedge salad with the smoked chicken salad. Tchoups Midcity is located in a classically restored home and has lot's of charm and features one of the best outdoor dining areas in the city for the 3 weeks a year that you'd want to eat outside in Louisiana.
