Forno Alimento - Lackawanna

Me and my girlfriend had valentines dinner here for the FIRST time last night. Once we sat down we immediately felt rushed to order drinks and appetizers, which tasted good(octopus dish and the prosciutto/parmigiano/olive board). Before the appetizers even got to the table we had to ask the waitress twice for a few minutes to decide on our mains, so eventually we both ordered our mains but seemed that we were being rushed to order. Still waiting for our appetizers in the mean while and 4 other tables around us were seated. Once we received our appetizers we realized that those 4 tables that were seated way after we ordered they received there appetizers way faster then we did. Then the wait began for our mains. About 15 minutes after we were done our apps we were given new cutlery and told our mains will be ready soon. We ended up waiting 35 minutes for our mains but what really bothered us was that our mains were served at the same time as those 4 other tables who weren’t even there when we ordered our food. At this point our glass of wine was done and was not offered another glass with my main course, now i could of asked but usually the waiter should offer. My girlfriend’s zucchini spaghetti tasted fine but my cacio e pepe with truffles had way too many truffle shavings on top of it and over powered the entire dish. I felt that i paid for truffles instead of a simplistic and tasty cacio e pepe pasta. I believe this is definitely a kitchen issue where they need to prioritize orders right away not when enough people order pasta. Our waitress was still polite and just doing her job but i don’t think anyone should be waiting 35 minutes for a main course. I apologize to the owners for having to leave this review but i have heard so many great things about your restaurant and i hope when I return eventually it will be a different experience. Thank you.

I enjoyed my meal at Forno Alimento. The truffle pasta was delicious and included a generous amount of truffle. I will definitely return just for this pasta. The service was good and they had excellent Covid protocols in place (scanned barcodes and asked for IDs), which I appreciated.

The place is just great. Fantastic attentive service. Food beyond belief. These guys really care. I have not had a better Italian meal in Toronto.
