Redstone's North End Tavern - La Valle

If I could check-in here, I would, but I can 't because it 's in the middle of a remote, beautiful, hilly lakeside area with no cell phone reception. And that 's part of it 's charm. Every year, my husband 's family rents a cabin about 40 minutes from the North End. We discovered the restaurant/bar last year, and we 've gone back 3 times since then because it is such a great place. We 've been to a lot of bar/restaurants in that area, and the North End is very unique in comparison. It is nicely decorated, and the food is much more than bar food. The chef is really good. He makes everything from scratch with delicious flavors, and their fish fry is done perfectly. (You can get beer-battered fish everyday). The North End is a great place to go for appetizers and drinks, lunch or dinner.

We've been visiting this local small-town restaurant for the past 10 years, through different owners. The latest owners have done a great job recovering from the previous owners management and food snaphoos (we didn't visit for nearly two years because the food and service had gone downhill . The staff here now are hard-working, friendly, and efficient...but they are always short staffed. We weekend at our cabin on Lake Redstone so are usually there Friday or Saturday nights, and it always takes at least two hours to get dinner!!!! One night I even started helping to bus dishes since it was taking so long!!! The food is good...standard small town quality food, with a great bar selection as well (even a few craft beers on tap! . Their salad bar is the shining star (fresh hard-boiled egg!!! with great homemade soups too! Three stars for the slow service and prices that are a bit high for what you get, considering you're in La Valle! The River Mill is another great option, but their salad bar isn't nearly as good!

I went to the North End tonight for a take out fish dinner. I ordered a 3 piece dinner. I was charged for a 3 piece dinner. When I got home I had a 2 piece dinner.It was too far to go back to get my order corrected. The food was not bad.

We've been to this place a couple of times. First just to grab a beer, then to have dinner. This restaurant is fantastic. The meals are made fresh not from a Schwan's truck. The desserts are yummy. The prices are good. The Sunday breakfast for $5 is also amazing! The other thing that we really like is that the service is good and the owners are friendly. This is a much, much better option than the other big restaurant in downtown La Valle.

The food was great. Very recommended. The staff was also great. We forgot our left overs and they caught us and ran them out.
