Don 't worry, you will not be dancing the hempen jig , even though, I thought I would, after running away from my catastropphic room at Les Rives D 'OR hotel (LA Seyne Sur Mer ... I decided to walk out, and try to find a seafood...restaurant, not in the nearby touristical avenue. A quick web search indicated the presence of La Terrasse du Port. My GPS first showed a clear route, then started an erratic trip, with a completely panicking compass ! Street lights were dimming, getting rare... I was off the main road. Do pirates jam satellite signals? A couple of persons I stopped had no idea about where the restaurant was ! I thought I should go intuitive, follow the moon, the beach line, keep the water on my right !!! Dark it was ! nearly no moon, no wanderer... It would have been romantic, if my beloved was with me... I was getting hungry, and no sign of any restaurant around... Then I felt the road was terminating, and I found myself walking on sand... gentle waves nearly washing my steps... Dark, dark night... dark houses... No sign of any life... Quite intimidating... What if Blackbeard is hiding round the corner? And , after 20 min walking, with a usхeless GPS, some light seemed to be gliittering, 100 meters way... I hurried up, and couldn 't hide my joy to realize it was, indeed, a restaurant. Facing the litttle bay, with it small harbor. I walked up the stairs... Pirates everywhere... skulls, sabers...chains, barrels... I opened the door with my heart doublebeating... Somebody was dining...in white shirt... Oh, it was the Chef, with is wife... I apologized... sorry, am I too early? I can come back No, No, not at all, please come in He quickly took his plate, she helped him cleaning the table, and he retreated in his kitchen. I chose a table with a view , on the dark waters... She came with a smile, explained the menu. I ordered a fish soup du Chef, and oysters, and giant gambas in chili sauce... Everything was delicious, and generous. When the soup came, I saw 2 ladies, outside, looking at the menu, debating, hesitating, then walking up... They came in, asked if hey could have a coffee. sorry said the owner, this is a restaurant Disappointed, the ladies were heading towards the door, but had a look at my tempting table. Debated again, went out, came back 2 minutes later, asking if they could order just a soup and a salad. welcome , smiled the owner.. I was no longer alone, for my dinner. I could sip a glass of regional white, recommended by the Chef, full of aromas, and in perfect harmony with the savory juicy oysters. I had regained enough energy to challenge the going back to the awful hotel, through the now familiar dark beach lanes.. I can recommend this restaurant, especially if you follow the same dark way from the city. Excellent food, friendly Chef and wife, and lots of pirates to toast with !!! Yohoho and a bottle of rum !!!
We visited many restaurants in La Seyne during our recent vacation but this was my favorit. Wonerful view on the sea and pleasant interior decoration. We got some fresh Oyster as starter,so good and convenient, then we had a dish with a mix of several fishes...in different cooking style and also this one was perfect. The lady was so gracious and gentle. Strongly suggested
