Bidrage med feedbackWe visit Estelle and Bill at least twice a year and have been for over 10 years and they have never greeted us and fed us wonderfully. Your menu is simple but well cooked and presented. When we take our big children, they treat them as if they are their own. There is no question that we will always be back.
We have been visiting Estelle and 'Bill's' for over 10 years and are now greeted like old friends. The menu is simple but very well prepared and presented from Bill's kitchen and served by Estelle with quiet efficiency. Hidden away, but very rewarding in search.
We had a little trouble finding this hotel, but we're glad we did. A track is pulled down and our SATnav did not see it to locate. But we're so glad we finally found it. We were welcomed by our smiling host. Our room was upstairs, very clean and so comfortable! We wanted to eat at the restaurant, but we're not under pressure. After a walk around Honfleur we returned to dinner. It was absolutely wonderful. Large kitchen, nicely cooked and served with a smile. Our host was speaking English and that helped us to understand the complexity of the menu. A supper to remember! A good night's sleep meant we were back in the restaurant for our delicious breakfast. The stay was a super end of our two weeks vacation and we will certainly return as soon as possible.
We were spending a short week in Calvados in a Gites close to the small town of La Riviere Saint Sauver not far from Honfleur. La Fraichette was a recommended restaurant by the Owner of the Gîte and on our last evening we made a reservation and drove the 5-6 minutes to the restaurant as it was a pleasant summer's evening and warm we ate outside on the terrace, there were three other tables occupied by other couple but each table was away from its neighbour to allow decent privacy. The menu formula is interesting on a blackboard the pricing being of A, B or C from a selected menu, which doesn't have a great number of choices for you to be spoilt but the choices are well selected. Our main course was unusual for us as it was Brochette d' Andouillette pole; we both like Andouillette, which is normally grilled served with a mustard sauce, but this was different and was magnificent, two brochettes with three slices of Andouillette that had been gently cooked poèle (in the frying pan together with a dauphinoise of courgettes. The andouillette was perhaps the best I have ever eaten in France, perhaps because Normandy is the ancestral home of Andouillette and gently à la poèle was a crowning glory. To finish the meal we had Apple Crumble and Vanilla Ice Cream an excellent choice, the apples fondant and the crumble memorable to the palette. An excellent restaurant, gentle family service and as La Fraichette is also an hotel an excellent complement to the ensemble. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and it was a fitting tribute to the gastronomic delights of Normandy, we were sorry to be leaving and returning to our home in Lorraine. Best have a GPS or a mapping App on your smartphone as although signposted the last 150 metres could be exciting if you met a car coming the other way, the road is only wide enough for two horses or two bicycles but not for two cars
