Bidrage med feedbackThe food was good, it's good for a cheap ayce kbbq. The service was alright my only complaint was that it was my first time since the remodel and I wasn't sure how it worked. I had to keep asking the waiter for assistance The new loook is pretty good, I do miss the old one made me feel more home vibes.
Came here since Gangnam Station was having a 2+ hours wait. We waited there for almost 1.5 hours and gave up. These food quality was ok here. But no where on the menu did it wrote that the first 4 items, you could only order ONCE. What is a AYCE if certain items, esp. the steak and ribs are only to be ordered ONCE?!? It also took a while to wave the servers to your table. You can also only order 3 items per time. Which is reasonable, but write that down on the menu too. Ambiance was just ok: could be nicer. Next time we will definitely check out Gangnam Station earlier. When my son went to the bathroom, he said the restaurant looked very nice and modern. Hwang So Go Jip is more like a small mom and pop shop. Service can be much better: if so I will give a 4 stars.
I used to come to Hwang So Go Jip religiously for the past 2 years with my family and friends. Our go to was always the marinated brisket with side salad and a few sides of rice for everyone. My mom and I loved this place so much that we were willing to overlook the fact that we've got tiny mosquitos in our salads numerous times. However since they underwent remodeling and new ownership I wouldn't give this place the time of my day again. My last visit which was the same weekend of the re-opening we were extremely disappointed. The interior was completely different and not at all to my liking. It didn't have the warm and cozy feel of a mom and pop restaurant, it became modernized with even an added salad bar where you have to go grab your own rice, utensils and sauces, not a fan. The service went downhill completely. The older lady Cindy who previously worked for the last owners was still there and while she has great speedy service the other new ladies were completely careless. At first I thought it might've even been a racial thing as we were the only hispanics and I noticed we weren't getting any attention to the point I had to get up a few times to ask for my beverages and refills on meat but after reading similar reviews I see that they just have bad service in general. We only had 3 rounds of meat for a party of four (which by the way they became even stingier with the meat portions serving them in smaller plates) when we became frustrated and had to pin them down for the check. If you go to Korean BBQs solely for the experience then I guess you wouldn't mind this place but for people like me who dine at places with at least decent customer service and quality food, I wouldn't recommend.
There 's kind of a misleadingly high rating on Yelp with tons of reviews, but from what I experienced I 'd prefer to go to another KBBQ spot. Most places change the grill when it is obviously black and charred, However when we asked them for a grill change they said it was still 'ok to use ' and to wait until we had finished cooking the rest of the meat in the order. It may be that the red is understaffed or we went on a busy night too but the service was not very good. Meat quality is decent, just the tripe looked interesting and kind of unappetizing but it actually tasted ok once it was cooked thoroughly. They only refill the side dishes upon request and you have to tell them which ones you want which I think isnt a bad idea to prevent food waste.
Inside: you can tell this place has been around for quite some time. There were many things that made me question the sanitation here. One of which was one of the water cups they gave us still had lipstick on it. The food: the meat was actually decent and had no real issues with the meat itself. The sides were sub par. Kim chi wasn 't to my personal liking, it was mostly just vinegar flavor. Soy beans were overly salty. Japchae was just pure noodles (no veggies) and you can tell it was in the fridge because it still had a bit of a bite/crunch to it. Potato salad was just mashed potatoes with macaroni mixed in, kind of a gummy feel and sourness to it... Service: Terrible. They keep the door open and the waitress asked us to sit at a table right in front of the door. We went on a Tuesday evening close to opening and there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant until roughly half an hour in. It was a bit cold for us so I asked if we could scoot to the next table after which she appeared annoyed and made a tsk on several occasions (prior to us even putting in our order). From first sitting down to getting our first order was almost 20 minutes. They don 't really check on you and always appeared upset or annoyed when we asked for an order. Didn 't really ask which menu we wanted. I saw on numerous occasions another table hitting the call button and the waitress ignoring it. At the end when we had to pay up front I handed her my card after which she quoted me a bill of about $46 (Supposed to be $17.99 per person for menu A) which she then went on to say that we would be discounted if we paid cash and she then said it was $36 not including tip. Overall it was a terrible experience. Poor hygiene, poor service. It was our first time going and definitely not going back. There are better places for similar pricing.
