Bidrage med feedbackI don't know why the two restaurants are grouped together in one topic. There are two different restaurants, separated by about 2km. My review is for El Portillo. We made a stop here on our way to Mount Teide, coming from Puerto de la Cruz. The restaurant is small and common. For food they had several types of sandwiches, biscuits, cookies. They serve coffee, juices, beer, spirits. I didn't see menus on the just a few tables, so I don't know if they serve cooked food. Outside they have a small terrace, quite nice. In the small courtyard there are several small stands selling traditional products (jams, honey, mojo sauces) and handicrafts.
Visited here while on an hour stop off with a coach tour. They cater for large groups of people on coach trips arriving at the same time, however, they struggle to provide a decent service in the limited time scale. Waiting staff were all but running to deliver to the tables while often carrying 4 plates of hot food at a time. I witnessed a number of near miss collisions between them and customers, and one physical contact that sent food flying and the waiter getting angry with the customer he collided with. The food looked and smelt lovely but, having taken stock of the situation, my friend and I decided to just have a cup of tea and a coffee, and while waiting to return to our coach we saw several meals sent back. When it came time to go back to the coach we went to the counter to pay our bill (which was hand written in Spanish and had no prices on it). When we eventually got to the till I didn’t quite catch what the cashier said as she thrust the card machine under the bank card I was holding. We was not offered a receipt and were now pushed for time so just headed back to the coach. Because of it’s location we were expecting to pay over the top but when I checked my bank statement we had been charged 16€. That’s not a typo! Yes! 16€ for a small tea and coffee……..neither of which were great either!
Visited with a pre-booked coach excursion group. We had an hour to eat. It was quite busy when we arrived but almost every aspect of the service was chaotic and disorganised. I ordered the 3 course special but didn't have time for dessert as we had to run for the bus. Waiting staff were very stressed and rushed and making mistakes as a result. The food was generally adequate except one member of our family was concerned her chicken wasn't properly cooked. All in all a dissapointing interlude on our coach tour of western Tenerife and Mt Teidi.
Quality/quality/price/Personal /rapidity kitchen- unbeatable. the best in the area.
Today I stop eating at this restaurant and the truth is 10 everything. Camarer@s super friendly, delicious food and very good prices. I'm clear where I'm gonna stop for lunch on my next vacation next year. I wish many places had working people like these people. Thank you so much for everything.
