Bidrage med feedbackThis place was highly recommended by our apartment manager. We had to make a reservation, which is typical for La Morra. We were seated on the terrace. The place was super busy and all staff seemed frazzled. Nobody really smiled. They did their jobs competently though. We had the vitello tonnato for appetizer and it was good the sauce had fewer capers than others. Both my spouse and I had the ragu pasta and it was very good. We asked for a local Barbaresco wine and were brought a very good bottle in our price range. So our meal and wine were good. Service was decent, but again not friendly. One of our biggest complaints is that there were so many people smoking cigarettes around us, it really negatively affected our meal the taste and smell. This is not necessarily the fault of the restaurant, but I have to say that for an area that focuses so much on food and wine, it surprises us that they would allow smoking anywhere in the restaurants (like other parts of the world do). It's obviously a cultural difference, but it sill is a drag for those of us who are sensitive to cigarette smoke and appreciate the smell and taste of good food and wine.
Completely unpretentious (dogs, children, paper table coverings, blackboard menu ... , this place is serious about food and wine. Although the emphasis is on tradition, with exquisite pasta and perfect risotto, there's also a place for innovation as in the memorable pepperoni cheesecake antipasto. Execution is deft: paper thin slicing makes tongue (of all things a delicate starter, but there's no frou frou plating or portions. Obviously, here in one of the world's premiere wine areas, the cellar is top notch. The overwhelmingly Italian clientele are relaxed and happy to be here. You will be too.
“ I am the owner! I decide where you sit!“ My experience here was terrible. We came in while we had a reservation. We saw that a few tables were ready , but yet the owner commanded us to let us wait inside. I thought it was kind of strange because the table were already available. Although I was relaxed about it, I saw some Italians coming in without a reservation and with his biggest smile he gave them the table. I went over to him with the intention to ask him if we could sit on the other table. Although I was standing right next to him and patiently waiting, the owner looked at me with an arrogant face and ignored me a couple of times. Finally I had the guts to ask him if with my kind charm if we could sit on one of the available tables and I just pointed to a table and only said “you , sit there! ”. I was surprised about the way he demanded me to sit there without walking me to the table. But I didn’t want to make a fuss out of it. I tried to ask him kindly if we could sit outside, since there were more available tables. But again he pointed to the same table and again said “ no! You sit there! So I went to that table. When he passed by I asked him kindly why he was acting so impolite to me and said things like : “ I am the owner, I decide where you sit “. This went too far and I told my husband to go to another place. We didn’t get the taste of their food, so I can’t tell whether it’s good. We went across the street where we had lovely food and service.
Totally recommmend! Best meal we had in LA Morra and best value by far! Everything we tried was delicious, my favorite being the Pasta with butter and Lavender!
