Casa Juan - La Matanza de Acentejo

Casa Juan era una maravilla de restaurante, pero ya no existe como tal, una lástima.

This restaurant seems popular with local tourists but really did not hit the right buttons for me. It is, however, the only restaurant within walking distance of a large number of holiday apartments and villas. The main dining room looked good fun but we were placed in an annex alone initially. Whilst perhaps it could be described as romantic, overlooking gardens, it was also rather cool with no heating although blankets were provided. The menu is extensive and the staff will show you the fish of the day. We did not have a starter but a type of duck dripping was supplied with bread which was not to my taste. Pork escalope was well cooked and served with fried potatoes and a selection of vegetables which were limp having been overcooked. Dessert of cheesecake was laborious and not memorable. We had a bottle of local wine for €15 which was good and earthy. The staff were efficient with at least one speaking English although most of the guests were German. The portions here are very large so be careful how you order. Overall I found it did not meet my expectations and the bill of €65 for 2 (without service) is at the top of the range for the local area.

We ate here twice! Nice setting with tropical plants everywhere and well prepared food! Prices are fair and they give you large portions! We had the fish both times. Good flavor! The rating of 4.5 is accurate in our opinion!

We went here as a group of friends, it was a beautiful venue with lots of attention to detail. The food was presented beautifully too and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Good selection of food, large portions and good wine too!

Muy bien organizado, una escupida pero deliciosa carta, que usted tiene que ir con el deseo de comer abundantemente, el Cheff va a comprobar que tal la experiencia culinaria y hablar en un español muy alemán. El salmón y el pato, además de la sopa de tomate, son muy buenos. Un ambiente rodeado de naturaleza, con terrazas y un interior un poco viejo, pero acogedor. Un consejo de reserva si no quieres esperar mucho.
