We thought that we had found a great spot for lunch. David had hoped to sample the Tagliatelle Bolognese and I was looking forward to pizza cooked in their wood oven. Sadly this was not to be as the proprietor said that the only food on offer was steak fillet, sirloin or rump. Whilst the steaks looked good they were not what we were looking for and so we declined. By this time we had ordered a drink, one 50cl beer and a carafe d'eau, the beer came with a bottle of water and a €10 bill. La Ferte Gaucher is about to loose a major employer in October when the VB factory closes. I hope La Mama survives, I really wanted to like the place, however cutting the menu to the bone and charging such prices may not yield the best result.
