Bidrage med feedbackLe Mas d'Artigny is perhaps not the most modern of hotel spas, and could use a little renovation. However, it has some things going for it: a very helpful, pleasant and friendly staff; really good food; a great view of the surrounding terrain; tranquility; large rooms and proximity to St. Paul. The facility is a little difficult to find, however, especially at night, and GPS systems do not always work well in the area.
In lovely suroundings you can enjoy nature. Breakfast on the terrace. Dinner outside. The staff is very friendely and helpfull.Depending on your budget you can have your own swimming poolIn front of your room. You do have to make reservations in summer. You will certainly remember your stay.
Although we don't live far from this hotel, we decided on two days away to relax as the setting looked superb, and we had a superb restaurant booked for the night of my Husbands birthday. On arrival we found the receptionist to be polite, and she took took us to the room herself. We had booked a suite, and as soon as we saw the room it was a surprise. Although the room was large and had great views. It was very outdated, and not well kept. Stained carpets, stained bedcover (yuck) missing lightbulbs, half filled mini bar, old furniture. The bathroom was nicely tiled and large, but broken tap fittings and rust around the taps. Only two mini bottles of shampoo, and one usual tiny soap, and shower cap, first time in a 4 star hotel, with such a minimum of products. A small note also to say, no tea and coffee making facilities, again a first. Now we have stayed in some hotels, that have old furniture, and furnishings, but manage to retain their old world charm, not here. The Mas d'artigny just felt unloved and uncared for and run down. The heating control was outside the bedroom, so needed to be adjusted there, and as other people mentioned the key was a nightmare. The Wifi was absolutely terrible, lucky if you could open a simple e mail, without attachments (and same in all areas in the hotel and grounds that we tried) We had been told that their was a heated pool, in one of the villas attached to the hotel, so we walked over there. It was very grubby, with ashtrays not emptied for quite a few days if not longer, and again generally not clean. Needless to say we didn't swim!We ordered room service the first evening. I ordered a Cheeseburger, and very clearly stated very well cooked. When our food arrived, I asked the waiter, if I could perhaps check to see if it was cooked enough (due to a medical reason) He said yes yes its very well cooked and he replied he was to busy (of course I speak French) There seemed to be only 3 rooms reserved that night. On checking my cheeseburger, I found pieces of what looked like roast beef offcuts (they later tried to claim it was filet steak, which was rubbish as my Husband is a well know French chef and I am a cook/chef) Their were blood red thick pieces, and thin small pieces, no cheese, just some sauce and salads. My husbands salad though was fine, as was the other dishes.Breakfast with the same waiter, was simple, his attitude wasn't great. There were 3 tables laid , two clean, one used. There was two each of mini strawberry jam/apricots/butter. He was quite abrupt in asking what we wanted, as no buffet (to be expected with so few guest) Coffee arrived tepid, he forgot the milk my husband asked for, Orange juice wasn't fresh and croissants likely cooked from frozen and overcooked! No offer of anything else, not that we asked or wanted. The table that needed cleaning near us, was cleaned while we was eating (even though we waited 10 minutes for breakfast to arrive. Hardly difficult to give good service with only one table to serve. My paper serviette on our table was also dirty! The night before we had left our room service tray outside the door as another guest, the dirty tray stayed there until well into the afternoon! We used the Spa facilities which were very nice, relaxing, and clean, but as the payment and reservation is separate to the hotel, I believe it shouldn't affect my negative review. The next morning we had a new server who was very professional, called Daniel I think, (he wore glasses) All tables were nicely laid, clean, honey as well as jams, rapid service (and milk) he also asked us what would give us pleasure to eat, superb service.I have tried to be fair in this review, and I do appreciate it is not the fault of the people working for unkept hotels as to their condition. It must be demoralising, to work there. All in all a hotel that feels abandoned by the owner.
Nice setting and view, very limited choice of dishes after 1pm....waiter a bit rude and snappy. Very far away from St Paul de Vence, wouldn't want to stay there though. The room we visited was very big with a private pool but outdated.
Booked this restaurant as we were planning on being in St Paul de Vence on my birthday and reading other reviews, it appeared to be a good choice. The setting is good, nice backdrop, and very serene. Service was ok, nothing special, but the menu looked interesting - when the food arrived, what can I say, it just wasn't interesting in fact it was all rather average/boring - I had chicken (granted not the most interesting dish), but was served with a bland tomato gnocchi, the rest of my group had salmon fillet, and a seafood pasta dish - sorry I want to like the place, but I won't be rushing back, on leaving the hotel, it looks rather dated and need of a refurb.
