Bidrage med feedbackHave previously visited and will do this again when they are in coln. her kalbsleber is an absolute joy probably the best meal of our day German/Netherlands/Belgium. the personal is friendly. the small courtyard is charming and a beautiful place to eat alfresco.
We arrived in for dinner on the night all pubs/restaurants were closing due to Coronavirus. The manager was exceptionally friendly and seated us immediately. He brought over beers and gave us the menus. I, not being familiar with German food, asked for a recommendation...and he gave us time, talking through the menu and letting us know what was good. My partner went for the pork knuckle (he warned us it was big and I went for the pork fillet. Both were exceptional the pork melted in the mouth. My only comment would be that I personally don't like Fennell, and there was a lot of fennel in the sauce but that's not a criticism at all. The pork knuckle was amazing and I would come back to Cologne again just for that! Service was exceptional and can not fault this restaurant at all. Best meal during our trip. Atmosphere and setting are also stunning.
It is amazing how sometimes, some people feel they had a terrible experience at a where others get a best impression. I guess it may be luck at play, mood, or a diferent perspective. Our expectations were exeeded at this restaurant. We were greeted warmly,...seated at a convenient table outside, served in a timely manner and attended to with frendly jokes and service. Everything was perfect. The atmosphere was extremelly pleasant and relaxing, and the food was absolutelly delicious. As part of my quest to try most of the German dishes while in this country, I took up the challenge of a traditional pork hock with cooked cabbage and mashed potatoes and even if I could devour only about half of it, I testify to a great meal. Of course, it goes without saying, that the accompanying proper drink should be a local beer, preferably white.
Fantastic food! Beautiful old restaurant. So authentic. Must look at the downstairs tables too and cellar. Staff are very friendly and chat to you. Recommended the duroc pork cutlet. It was the best I’ve rated! Wow! All the flavours were exceptional. I will be back.
If you are looking for an experience of local food, this is a good place, with friendly atmosphere and comfort food. I recommend the mushrooms soup and the typical Eisbein dish (Pork Knee), although it is huge plate for a person who eats normal
