Good Golly Tamale - Knoxville

Kinda overpriced but was good overall. Very nice decorating and the energy was nice.

I’ve been twice since visiting family in Knoxville for a week. I’ve eaten the chicken tamale, pork tamale, black beans and Spanish rice. All of it was cooked to perfection. The rice and beans could be shared or taken home to be reheated. The food is authentic and the vibe is super laid back. I know I’ll crave these tankers when I return home!

The Tamales are really good. the sides are okay. the Spanish style rice was an attempt at Spanish rice, but didn’t make the mark. The tamales are good even if you’ve grown up eating tamales . The masa had a great flavor and great consistency.

Good Golly Tamale is one of my favorite restaurants in Knoxville, so I was thrilled to be able to have them cater my wedding at Ijams Nature Center in April.They delivered tamales and sides for 70 guests (we ordered a few dozen extra tamales just in case). It turned out to be the perfect amount, and everyone thought it was delicious. Even some of our older, more conservative relatives who had never tried a tamale before commented on how tasty and unique it was.A huge thank you to Matt and his staff for accommodating us and helping make our special day memorable!

Since I started working in the area this place has become a regular stop for lunch, and I am never disappointed with the tamales I get. This first time I got tamales from here was the first time I ever had a tamale, and I think they have set my bar high for a good tamale. Only complaint I would have is they can sometimes run out of a particular tamale, but the options are so good I'm never disappointed to switch up my order.
