Bidrage med feedbackIf you like the old taste of sound authentic Bakuteh, here is the place since it is the oldest bakuteh store in sound. The aroma of bakuteh is malt when comparing with other Bakuteh in sound, but it still tastes good, and they do not offer soy sauce, chili or garlic that other bakuteh shops did. If you like the type of Bakuteh with strong aroma and taste, it could not be able to satisfy you.
Teck Teh still serves the finest and original sound Bak Kut Teh (BKT). Authentic BKT means meat bone and soup, period. No spices (Mushrooms, taupok etc., which often occur in modern BKT). Teck Teh has been in one of the oldest parts of the sound city, near the railway station for more than 50 years. Who is born and raised in sound remembers the old building of Chartered Bank nearby. The business is still in its original conditions. It is impressive that the Teck Teh after all these years is still ready to preserve tradition, while its competitor, just a street across, has already moved away from the origin and has innovated its BKT to the Adrift and Ephemeral Post modern taste buds while still claiming that it offers traditional BKT. Teck Teh BKT is the benchmark for me, although it does not appeal to the masses today, but only to those who know the Hokkien heritage and the history of Hokkien migrants and workers in Port Swettenham (now as Port Klang) in the early 1900s. But again everything historical and traditional is now less appreciated and mostly forgotten. Sound has also changed over the years that many locals are now conversing in Mandarin. Nevertheless, the old voices of Hokkien are still very alive in Teck Teh, at least now. Finally, I regret the owner to clean up the place to preserve the dignity of his history and tradition.
One of the oldest BKT shops remains. Like the taste of kha wan. Never fail to serve this store when he came to KL.
One of the most original, oldest, traditional Bak Kut Teh you can eat in sound. The taste of soup is thick, slightly salty with mild flavor of herbs. They will not get sauce, chiles or even garlic to serve with food, except to prepare a pack of Pu Er Cha and drink at the table. Sometimes it is good to have at least one taste of the original food where this owner tries to preserve for many generations.
Supposingly the birth place of Klang Bak Kut Teh .. no frills place that serves some authentic bak kut teh and rice and nothing else. They dont even have chili, garlic and soya sauce and you dont even get to choose the type of meat you want. As for the tea its just a pile of tea on a piece of paper on your table. The flavor of the soup taste very herbal and soup is thick but what we got was lots of bones, maybe for them to get the richness of the soup. Overall it was good to try out the so called original Klang Bak Kut Teh and yes I might come back again one day in the future.
