Beef & Barley - Kingston

I came to this restaurant today for lunch on Father's Day. It would have been really nice to eat together as a family, but unfortunately, our meals came to the table about 20 minutes apart from each other. However, the food was delicious and the staff was friendly.

My family of four enjoyed dinner at this restaurant. The burgers were tasty and the salad with chicken was good. The service was okay, but after we finished our meal, no one came to clear the table or offer us dessert. I had to go to the counter myself to order dessert, which was called the dessert tasting plate but should really be called the super chocolate plate desserts. It consisted of two macaroons, fudge cake, and chocolate tart, all of which were too sweet and lacking in balance. Our main plates were still on the table when the dessert arrived. When we arrived, there was only one other table occupied, but by the time we left, there were four more. The service was lacking given the small number of other customers. We may choose to dine elsewhere next time we visit Canberra.

Average food in a pleasant environment. the personal was attentive, but that can be a bad thing in times of the kovid, I would prefer that they do not stand next to me invade my personal space. considering how average it is to eat and how costly it is. it would be hard to recommend and therefore I have given it 2 stars. if it were cheaper, I would be 3.

Up there with so far the worst café/bar/restaurant experiences. friend asked if speck and eggs could easily end after the breakfast (empty restaurant at this point). kitchen said yes. then the waitress came up and we ordered to eat and drink to say the breakfast menu is finished...(even if each dish had almost an ice or speck in or on it). coffee was cruel. tried like water. the waitress has beaten the capsule of the coffee down and left us to find out what was. the food took 1 hour to get to the table. After we had received the waiting period as tables after us, the apprentice's chef was accused in the kitchen. incorrect ordering and missing items from the meal times delivered to the table. this was also the responsibility of the apprentice chef. the personal must be better trained in customer service. would have been a much more pleasant transaction, would have communicated the waiting staff with us better. overpriced and bad quality. not recommended.

Great friendly easy going service, reasonably priced, nice location and decent food. Great for a casual catch up and bite to eat.
