Bidrage med feedbackSuper disappointed. We made a reservation weeks ago and had a confirmation for the date and time a day or so before our reservation. When we pulled up to the property we were told that the restaurant was closed for the season. We received no phone call, text, or email letting us know. It being a super busy weekend with the Sheep and Wool festival happening, we had a hard time finding somewhere that could seat us that last minute. Very poor management and so disappointing after the lovely time we had in the restaurant last year.
We arrived 15 minutes before our supposed reservation only to be told at the security gate to the property that the restaurant was closed and that we should have received a cancellation notice. We did not receive a cancellation notice and in fact had received an email asking us to confirm. We drove 30 mins from our hotel in the rain to dine here. Not a great experience
This place seems to be fairly popular, probably for special occasions and parties primarily. It’s located directly on the Hudson River which is very pretty during daylight hours but hardly visible at night. We visited in mid September. It was open air on all sides so with a brisk wind it was quite chilly if not cold. I don’t know if they have a way to enclose it during winter months or if they just shut it down. The menu was extremely limited. They seem to want to project a gourmet, fine dining atmosphere but did not succeed. The food was decent but priced way over the quality received. Cocktails were way overpriced, wine and beer were a little more reasonable in some cases, but generally overpriced as well. Overall, if you’re looking for a nice daytime setting and don’t mind spending quite a bit extra for that then this might be an option.
I’ve been here before this summer and previously had a lovely meal. Tonight however we were advised to order our food and drinks from the bartender. We did so and received our drinks. This is an indoor outdoor establishment with many heating torches for customers comfort. Since many were lit around existing customers we asked if one by a table we might sit at could be lit. I was told they didn’t have enough propane to light any of the others. My $24 burger arrived and was very disappointing. It was well done, instead of medium rare, fairly cold and without the bacon and onion jam advertised. And the so called brioche bun was a sad specimen one might find in a school cafeteria that turned to mush while eating. My wife’s Flatbread did not arrive for a solid half hour after the burger arrived. Shameful and sad decline from its experience of this past summer.
The location and service were excellent. Our waitress Meghan was attentive, helpful, and lovely. The food was sadly not the best. Three of us had brunch entrees involving poached eggs eggs Benedict and pizza carbonara. All of the eggs were hard poached and not runny. The pizza crust was doughy and not flavorful. On the positive side, the shrimp and grits were delicious as were the **** Mary's. The owners really need to revisit the menu and it's execution. The view of the Hudson River is stunning and the servers are great, but it's not worth the trip if the food isn't memorable.
