Bidrage med feedbackSimply my favorite breakfast I've had in the Hudson Valley. I am a total sucker for souther inspired breakfast staples, and savory, unique breakfast options and this place delivers on both in spades. The cornbread starter was amazing-light, very flavorful and just the right amount of cheesy on top. I had the chicken and waffles as my main and the chicken was boneless and breaded perfectly. The waffles were crisp and complimented the chicken well. My wife had the miso pulled pork sandwich and the pork was so well cooked it melted in your mouth. The miso flavor was unique and complimented the pork well. I love when places include the egg on top of what would otherwise be a lunch meal. The service was prompt, relaxed, and unobtrusive. 90s movies were projected on one wall for those who wished to enjoy, but weren't obstrusive. Tap list was small but well curated and included local beers. I hope to be back often even though its a bit of a drive from Poughkeepsie. Totally worth it.
We stopped by Pakt on our way back to NYC. The restaurant has a hip vibe and a farm to table type of feel. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were hot and delicious. I ordered the seafood chowder which was good, but not really as soupy as I imagined. I really enjoyed the homemade pickles, hashbrowns and my husband's burger. Service was fine, but nothing special. Prices were about usual for New York.
We had made same day reservations for a bigger table 6 adults and 3 kids) on a rainy Sunday labor day weekend, and Dan was kind enough to accommodate our same day request and gave us a nice indoor table. Dan was clear at arrival about the fact that he was understaffed by 2 people and so understandably the service was slightly slower and explained this to us in a humorously convincing way. None the less, we were seated, placed our orders, and had a wonderful time under Dan's hospitality. And yes, if it isn't clear by now, Dan was one of the features of our visit to PAKT that made it a bit of an entertaining experience for us. Food Review: Let me begin by saying that food overall here was absolutely delicious and flavorful. We ordered a few things which included Biscuit N gravy $14), their Award Winning Mac and Cheese $10) which was a perfect portion for our 5 year old, a BLT Bene $16), Jethro $16), Egg Skillet $13) one with crab cake and one with chicken, and a vegan option ordered by me, which was a really tasty Vegan Chilly which was listed on their specials menu. For drinks, I also ordered a Lite lager, and a very tasty **** Mary... the pickled okra on that **** Mary was **** tasty! Food took less than 25 minutes to arrive, and overall, we had a very nice experience at PAKT, thanks to Dan and his team! We will definitely visit again and will recommend this place to our friends who live in nearby towns.
My wife and I spent our anniversary weekend in the Hudson Valley and wanted a unique brunch spot. I found this online and knew it would fit the bill perfectly. They don 't open until 10 on Sunday 's so we were there at 10:05. The restaurant is on a corner and we walked up and there was a table on the front stoop blocking entrance, making it appear as if it was to go ordering only. We stared at the menu board for a few minutes trying to decide if it was worth it but also wondered why their was a table of people eating inside. After a few minutes I noticed the side door. We cautiously walked in and asked if we were able to sit and the guy says Uhhhh, kind of, it depends. You have to ask that guy. Are you vaccinated? We said yes and a few minutes later were given a seat at the counter. Must have been a busy weekend for them because they were out of a number of items. My wife and I both got different types of chicken and biscuit sandwiches. They were both good, but both needed WAY more of the sauces they were supposed to have so they ended up being a bit bland. She got a side of the root veggie hash browns, but my sides of the peach habanero bacon and cheddar grits was the clear winner. The bacon was SUPER thick and I put one piece on my chicken sandwich. Grits were cooked perfectly and super thick almost like mashed potatoes. My wife really wanted to order her own side of them, but by the time we were served the place had filled up and the only server was busy with everyone else and didn 't come back until we were ready for the check. Would absolutely recommend this and hope to come back someday.
We came here on a Sat and knowing there may be a delay in service because of the holiday break. The waiter forewarned me when we sat down so I did appreciate that. We had the fried pickles appetizer to start for $7. I expected the pickles to be more thinly sliced and for it to not to have too much batter. Hence it was just alright. I had the catfish club breaded fried style which came with a choice of side of which I picked braised green. The sandwich was pretty delicious and I was afraid that it may have too much batter. The braised green was just alright as I had better. My son got the chicken and waffles with cheese grits. My wife got the shrimp grits both of which they felt the dish was just alright. Presentation of the food is nice but based off today's experience, I just give it a high 3 stars.
