Pearl River

If customers do not have high expectations based on Chinese city standards, they will find this restaurant satisfactory. I cannot fault their service, and the merlot I chose was so enjoyable that I had to order more online. It was great to see how attentive they were. Some of the portions were not too large, which allowed us to try a variety of dishes. Overall, the food quality was excellent.

This restaurant had the potential to be good, but unfortunately, they missed the mark on many aspects of the dining experience. The buffet offered unlimited food, but guests were required to follow a specific order of eating, starting with starters, then the main course, and finally dessert. Our starters were all cold when they should have been warm. The crispy duck with pancakes was disappointing as the pancakes and duck were both cold. The vegetables were fresh but not enough for the number of pancakes provided. The main courses were mediocre, with only the rice and noodles standing out as tasty and hot. Overall, it seemed like the restaurant was relying too much on its previous positive reviews on TripAdvisor, and the meal we had was underwhelming. If this meal had been served at a local Chinese restaurant, it would have been seen as disappointing for the price.

Upon arrival, the restaurant had a beautiful and lively atmosphere, with extremely friendly staff. Instead of a traditional buffet, diners selected items from the menu which were then brought to their table. While I did not agree with the waste policy of only ordering what could be finished, the staff were attentive and efficient. The food was excellent, with everything we chose being delicious. Overall, it may not have been the best Chinese cuisine I have ever had, but it was certainly memorable. Unfortunately, we were only visiting Norfolk and could not dine here more frequently, but we look forward to returning in the future. I highly recommend Pearl River to everyone. Great experience!

We ate at the pearl river last night must say it was one of the best Chinese meal we had in a long time service was great, food was fantastic would recommend throughout the day. to overdo it, we couldn't get back a taxi. get into our hotel so that jacob the owner sohn gave us a lift back. The best Chinese we’ve had for a long time! All dishes we tried were lovely (had to have a 2nd portion of duck), staff were friendly and had a great chat with the Owner. Thoroughly enjoyable meal, we’ll be back!
