I found this place on yelp and I had to stop by and give it a try and Boy did it deliver. I wish I would have came to this place earlier. They have a super large menu that packed with subs. I'm from HighPoint NC and wish we had something like this. Please come to high Point I'll eat here everyday. It's only 885 miles away lol.
The Phat Italian I could give 5 stars to this place just based off the title But I didn 't. They earned it. Here 's how: Anyone seeking a weekend trip amongst nature whether it be camping, snowboarding, fishing or hunting has to accept trade offs. Take camping, for example. Depending on on your definition of the word, you 'll most likely trade the comfort of a civilized bathroom for something much less lavish. Say, a hole in the ground with some pinecones. Or, if you 're lucky, there 's snow on the ground, so you can get a wipe and three coffee 's with of energy in one swift motion. Stay with me. Snowboarding has its trade offs as well. Even though you can (probably) still find a bathroom with running water, you 'll wind up paying for it through the restaurant/ski resort that houses it. Because of the desolate locations ski resorts often occupy, some restaurants force customers to pay a premium when it comes to the food, even though it won 't necessarily taste any better. Your best option is to brown bag it, a practice I have utilized on almost every trip. This way, I save money, and I can eat well during and after a hard days work on the mountain. No longer will I brown bag it when I visit Killington mountain though, because a mile and a half down the road from the mountain lies an unassuming deli that can touch gloves and come out fighting with any deli I 've been to, NYC included. Phat fucking Italian. Can you get a better name than that? No, you can 't. Can you find me a gas/service station with an Italian deli inside? Can you make sure that deli serves not only specialty lunch sandwiches, but killer breakfast ones too? Will you double check if they have a walk in beer room, and another for wine and cheeses? Can you make perfectly sure they offer fully prepared meals, and cater to those who not only visit the mountain, but live there too? Can you confirm the employees are not only skilled, but passionate about what they do? Can you make sure they offer FRIED EGGS on a a sandwich called the Beast so when the gooey yolk combines with the peppers, crispy bacon, and horseradish mayo it 'll make a flavor combination so perfect you 'll be enraged you haven 't had it before? Lastly, can you make sure this place makes everything themselves, including marinara sauce for the chicken and meatball combo dubbed the Joey Two Time? When you do, contact me. I 'll be the first to go. Until then, I 'm moving into Phat Italian, because as of now, I can 't think of anything I need in my life that Phat Italian doesn 't offer.
Was in Killington Vermont over the weekend for a little getaway with my boyfriend and we always stop in The Phat Italian for our essentials for our trip along with plenty of snacks. The other day I decided it was way to cold for me to snowboard so I went into town got my nails done and on the way back I passed our house and noticed the boys haven't come back from the mountain yet so off to The Phat Italian I went to grab some lunch. When I walked in there was a bit of a line but one of the men behind the counter took my order rite away which was nice. It took about 10-15 mins for them to make me my sandwich with all the other orders being placed. I got honey turkey with american cheese red onion lettuce and mayo on toasted white bread. It was a really great sandwich and I can't wait to come back and try some of their other awesome sandwiches and salads.
Great hidden gem on the killington access road. at first glance appears to just be a gas station, but inside is a full deli, wine and cheese shop, and coffee in addition to the normal convenience store options. i love the deli, so many hot and cold sandwich options. plus the large is absolutely gigantic, so one large sub ended up being about 3 meals for me, maybe 2 for a hungrier eater. the bread is really fresh and there are tons of combinations of deli meats way beyond the normal turkey, roast beef, or ham. i got the gambini which came with prosciutto, soppresata, mortadella, sun dried tomatoes, arugula, and roasted garlic spread. so delicious! we also got giant pickles (so amazing) and macaroni salad on the side. can't wait to go back for my next sandwich.
