Curious Cat - Killarney

Such a poor experience in every way. It’s a small restaurant. Like really small, and yet at 7.30pm on a Saturday night they had a musician play music with an amplifier! Our table genuinely couldn’t hear each other talk once the music started. The food was poor. I suspect a lot of the food just came from the local Aldi/Lidl honestly. I’ve made better meals myself at home. The meat board and cheeses all came from supermarkets, mean portions and were overpriced. It was also incredibly cold. No heaters.

The meat platter for the table was the same one from Aldi but half the size. Everything was overpriced for the low standard. Tbh I found some of what they served insulting considering the portion size and food quality. The restaurant is small but they put a singer/guitar player. He was unnecessary and at times annoying as he restricted the ability to chat. Maybe if he had no amplification and didn’t sing. There is very little to like about this place for an evening meal. I would not recommend it to anyone. Places like this is why Killarney has a reputation for ripping people off.

We stopped for breakfast. Lucky enough the weather was amazing and we got seated outside. Breakfast was amazing, service was great . Music playing in the background giving some relaxation Cuban vibes. We really enjoyed it .

Amazing experience, delicious wine and tapas. The tapas were explained to us. The waiter was passionate and this was an interactive night.

The Curious Cat has become a staple of ours since lockdown restrictions were lifted and every experience has been just faultless. The wine list is extensive, accessible and very good value, the Verdejo is a particular fave of mine! The tapas are great, again with plenty of options, the chirzo vino and the chili are stand outs so definitely try them. The atmosphere is just perfect, it's in a great buzzy little spot perfect for couples or friend groups alike. Lastly and most importantly the staff are great, the service here is on point, and friendly, and perfectly suits the whole vibe! All of the members of staff that have served us have been relaxed, personable, attentive and extremely friendly which is a huge draw, and will keep us coming back to the Curious Cat again and again.
