Bidrage med feedbackThe food here was just what our palates craved after eating diner food for most of the day. We suddenly craved Filipino food and came to this food truck haven for our fix. Vidad's did not disappoint. The price was right too!
Stopped by purposely for Kraken coffee but discovered vidad's even though we weren't super hungry. Ordered the Hawaiian bowl, li hung mui lemonade and came back for the shaved ice. Hawaiian bowl great portion and came in a reusable plastic container instead of the flimsy paper ones everyone uses. Kahlua pork was tender and not too salty, ahi poke and Lomi salmon was fresh and not fishy tasting. Li hing mui lemonade was a little heavy handed with the syrup but the lemonade portion was freshly squeezed so that was nice and balanced out the sweetness from the syrup. Shaved ice not ridiculously or comically too big like most others, good for sharing with another person. Got the guava, mango and passionfruit. Always such a race to finish so the syrup doesn't sink to the bottom too fast. I think the best part of the food here was the service. The female staff that took my order was super nice and explained some of the stuff on the menu. Everything was fresh and it just makes it more memorable when the staff is friendly.
Ordered the kalbi ribs and it came with rice and kimchi. The kimchi was really good but the ribs were inedible. They were a jelly like texture and were so chewy and unpleasant.
We were hungry beach hopping on our second day in Maui. My partner and I wanted to try some authentic Hawaii street food. It was past lunch time at 3 pm and we were lucky to find this food truck place 10 minute away from our sugar beach resort where we were staying. They had a few different type of food to choose from Jamaican, barbecue, Asian fusion, and Vidad’s. I had the braised pork belly bowl and my partner had the crispy pork belly bowl from Vidads. There is a seating area at the truck park with umbrellas and plenty of chickens and roosters that roam free. They are pretty bold and would literally jump on the bench or even on top of the bench you are eating if you don’t shoo them away. And if you drop a piece they would just going to try to get it from your toe! Growing up in Bangladesh free roaming bold chicken and roosters and their domesticated pet like attitude doesn’t bother me. But it bothered my partner! This got compensated by the tasty food from Vidads. We also ordered lychee lemonade which was refreshing.
I don’t know how and where to begin. Let’s start with the main dishes. The Adobo Fried Rice and the Adobo with rice bowl. They’re a bit under seasoned. Meaning that there wasn’t enough salt and pepper to bring out the flavor of the dish. The desserts, Halo-Halo. Very lazy ingredients put together. A bit too pricey for the quantity. $5 for a small cup.I wanna get into the customer service. The people weren’t really friendly. They didn’t repeat the order that was taken which is a necessary part of being a cashier to re-assure the customer that they have the right order. Speaking out of experience because I ordered two Adobo Fried Rice’ and instead they gave me their god awful Adobo with Rice Bowl. The cooks and the cashiers don’t wear hairnets or any headwear to hold back their hair. I don’t even see gloves being worn. This is a public foodtruck by the way. There’s a reason why the restaurant in Kahului closed down. The cleanliness of the kitchen wasn’t up to par. Along with the Food Truck.Highly Disappointed, and would never come back again. And I highly suggest new people to just get food somewhere else.
