Kono's On The Green - Kīhei

The service was excellent, the view was stunning, and the food was delicious. Make sure to try the Hula Pie!

We were not sure what to expect after reading negative reviews, but we were satisfied with the service, the price and very satisfied with the food. I had the shrimps, woman had the scallops.

My husband and I have sung several times at Kono every year during our holiday in Maui, even last year, and always looked forward to the experience of tropical outdoor dining, soft breezes, good service and beautiful atmosphere. What a big disappointment two days ago. Although we had a reservation when we arrived and asked to sit outside, we were told that the outside seats were coming first, serving first (as three women sailed directly past the Hostess station and took three seats). The outside seats have turned into “joint seats” which means that the tables sit six to eight with strangers. Sunday evening a whole band plays outside, so there is a $5.00 per person cover fee to have dinner outside where the band is set up. All this we have learned from the woman whose job it is to be a hostess, but seemed to lack the enthusiasm or kindness to be a hostess. We did not want “table share” we found a table inside (seating us) and ordered drinks. Then the outer band with ear began to drown all conversations inside and outside. We finished our drink, asked for the check and didn't leave for dinner. We were deeply disappointed by the overall look, no more table cloths, and nothing from the previous traditional Hawaiian appearance in decor or personal dress. As we in Kono 's the atmosphere is beautiful and welcoming, but it took forever to notice someone and sit on a table. We wanted to sit outside on the terrace, but there were very loud music outside (DJ I think) dancing with a few people and it seemed quite uncomfortable. We were the only ones at the table inside with a few people at the bar. The waitress was great and the food was good, but the whole scene left me and not back. It wasn't cheap for the seeming club atmosphere that went out when we arrived.

We had 4 people In our party and arrived for happy hour. Had great drinks and appetizers. Stayed for dinner and the dinners were amazing. Beautifully presented and tasted even better than they looked. Enjoyed the live music by Jim Spector. Worth the drive from Lahaina.
