3 Rivers Catfish Shack - Kensett

Very disappointed. Our fish was not fresh and tasted like it was cooked in old grease. We had heard such good things about this place. Probably won't be back.

OK...so today I wanted Catfish (in Searcy). I 've seen the place across from Cash Savers where they serve catfish, but haven 't stopped in before because I really hadn 't heard much feedback on the place...but today, I WANTED CATFISH. I called to make sure they were open and then made my way up to 3 Rivers Catfish Shack on Race Street here in Searcy. 3 Rivers Catfish Cafe main thing is catfish, but I also noticed they served breakfast, lunch and dinner...so there is more to place than just catfish. I sat down and was promptly waited on by a friendly waitress. I asked her about the catfish and also the sides that came with it. I ended up choosing the 10 piece catfish dinner, which came with fries, coleslaw, hush puppies and onion. About 10-15 minutes later my meal arrived...piping hot. There was a bed of fries topped with the 10 pieces of fish and 3 hushpuppies. There was a separate small dish of coleslaw and several onion slices (oh...and tea). I dove right in...all the food was fresh and hot. The fish was well cooked and the breading, although plain was tasty and not over done. Pretty doggone good. The fish was clean tasting and I did not get any pieces that tasty fishy ...just that faint scrumptious taste of catfish that tasted clean. The hushpuppies were well done and had a good taste to them. I wished there was an option for a jalapeno hushpuppy, but these were still very good. The coleslaw was plain. It too was good, but still it was just a plain tasting slaw...not as sweet as some others that I have had, but still a good slaw. My total bill for the 10 pc catfish with sides and tea came to $16, and when I left...I was FULL. That 's a lot of fish and portions for all the food were bigger than I have seen in many other catfish places. The prices on the menu were very reasonable and if the portions on my plate are indicative of their other dishes, then this place can be very affordable. On a day where I didn 't want to travel 40 miles (Conway) or Blytheville (140 miles), and craving CATFISH...finding the 3 Rivers Catfish Shack was a pleasant surprise and the CATFISH worth trying. There 's no doubt in my mind, I 'll be back again for more catfish. Thanks!!

Ordered lunch to be delivered. the food arrived HOT and Freshh! I got the catfish today. such good flavor. The portion sizes are awesome too. I'll have leftovers. GREAT FOOD!!

Breakfast is excellent! Homemade gravy topped it off! Down home southern style.
