Bidrage med feedbackThe good, traditional, architectural look of this Inn (Gaststaette) is doubled by a good menu offer, with (mainly) traditional dishes from the region. I had the pumpkin soup (small and tasty) and the Frying Pan with dumplings, Duck pork meat, accompanied by some cooked vegetables also well....Maybe the best part (together with the soup) of the dessert (Mango Sorbet). Not the cheapest offers are rather small, but the best to find in the city of Kelheim. {Service was okay, maybe a bit stressed by too many customers}.
I've known the Stockhammer for many years. It used to be the first address in Kelheim for a good lunch. Well, it's still; I have the impression that they try their best. At least the choice is quite huge, and they also have a list of daily dishes that is not so bad. The quality of the food seems to be all right: we tried the fish plate, the onion roasts, the Stockhammer Pfandl, the vegetables Spiess, and not least we also tried their vegan choice, which was filled with cereals and smeared with potatoes and a white soy dimmer. Not bad! (Although it would be much more possible... The service I heard could be quite slow during Sunday noon was pretty good for this Saturday night. All dishes came within time and very important for all more or less at the same time. There would be nothing more trouble than if someone had eaten while the other one is waiting on the table. This was not the case this time. So we hope the Stockhammer is still on the right track... See and check it again next time!
The food was delicious and fresh. We sat outside on the beautiful terrace from the quiet street. The waitress was very friendly, make sure that at least someone in your group speaks German.
Absolutely perfect lunch, i ordered the fish platter, perfect good quality fish, only problem i had was the slow service, i was sitting with another two people, the one person got their food first then the next person got their food half an hour later...and me last, we ended up not eating together and that was a problem and not a good first visit for me. I highly recommend the quality of food but for that experience of the long wait till my food arrived, i wont visit again.
