Bidrage med feedbackDuring our stay at High Plains Camping we ate at their on-site restaurant: Cap’n Jack’s Pub. First off, it’s a pub. It looks like a pub and has great beers on tap. I enjoyed the Buffalo Sweat Stout that’s only an APV of 5 and $4 on tap. My wife had a glass of white wine at $3.50. Great waiting staff!! The food wasn’t good with the exception of the soup. The wife said it was amazing. Steak was well over cooked, frozen crab cakes were Luke warm and sopping wet from what I’m assuming being recently thawed in a microwave. The mahi that the wife had was decent, but still Luke warm. The “mashed potatoes” were the worst. Definitely instant potatoes and really gritty. Don’t think we will be back. In response to the reply: Not a fake review. One of the best places to eat around this part of the country, and about the only place if looking for some seafood. It is small but cozy and a good atmosphere. Juke box is free as an added bonus. The french fries are great and they have tons of stuff to choose from from high end dishes (filets, escargot, lamb, crab cakes etc… down to sandwiches burgers.
Was working in area and found this place searching web for food. Definitely a place I’ll eat again. The rack of lamb was superb and cooked to perfection. Great service as well. No way did I expect to find food this good in the middle of nowhere Kansas.
