Sammys Pizza - Kankakee

Delicious pizza as it has ever been. I tried the hardest salad to take off the Brussel sprout. The salad was huge and beautiful and the Brussels sprouts were cut thin and raw, even harder to be good. It was delicious, one of the best salads I ever had. I'll try the other salads. Best pizza in town so far.

Okay, so we can honor the Sabbath and we've been pushed for the time. The waitress served us. Before we get to dinner, let's talk about Sue. An amazing woman full of beautiful personality. I explained to her that we had until the dark fall and she was right about it with the most perceived attitude. I could understand if it upset her that this amazing family has come in a short time to ask for special attention, but she has not noticed. I'll eat and go everywhere. So the pizza. It was our first time here and it is a beautiful and cozy place. Apart from two older ladies who enjoy their evening, we were the only family to eat. So if you like seclusion, it's that. The food was amazing!!! We have the half cheese/halfbeef, a taco pizza and wings. I had an acid amaretto because why not; and we all had Pepsi products. Our order came quickly, even if there were tons of orders from the door. Sue will be the reason I come back and dine.

Today 7/3/22 I ordered the Meat Head pizza for delivery. The delivery driver was nice and polite as was the young lady that took my order. I tipped him $5. However when I started eating it I discovered that it was burnt. I called to complain about it and yes the young lady offered to make another one. I declined the offer because I have worked in restaurants before and it's not always taken well when you send food back. I told her that I won't be ordering from them anymore. I'm sure that my little bit of money won't effect their bottom line but I think it should have been baked correctly the first time. In addition, what is up with the cracker crust? Does any place in the Kankakee area use doughy crust? I experienced this same thing with three other establishments which I ordered from once and never again. If I remember correctly from my days of working in the snack shop at the bowling alley, the cracker crust is cheaper. But it's definitely not better! The 2 star rating is for the delivery driver.

Used to be one of our favorite places to go for pizza but they went to frozen crust and apparently had some kitchen changes that has led to every pizza being burnt all along the edges. We request lightly done, same results. Asked them to remake it and it was uncooked in the center.. Had several bad experiences and won't be returning. Sad to see such a staple of the community going downhill but.. they should have kept the overhead of dough rollers! If we wanted frozen pizza we could get it from Walmart for way cheaper :

Ordered a pizza for delivery. Had to call back to check the status, was told they had alot of deliveries, we apologize for it being late. I said no problem. So when the pizza does come, it's cold. Called back and they said they'd send another one. I'm like great. Then she says, we need the pizza back and the driver has to look at it before he gives me the pizza. I'm like ok, not a problem. But now you're taking a pizza back into your establishment that's been outside. There's still Covid out there.
