Knutholmen - Kalvaag

I am traveling with my son (he is 2) we are actually sitting in the hotel right now we have one more night here for a total of 3. If you are looking for great views, stylish room, small fishing village feel then do not let this deter you. It is all of those things and is 20 minutes from a BEAUTIFUL beach. Having said that I am disappointed in a way with it being a family run hotel I really expected a more personal experience or at least someone to acknowledge that I am a guest or ask me anything. I inquired about things to do in the area that would be tolerable by a toddler (I noticed there was a toddler at the property owners son/grandson maybe) so I thought they might have ideas but I was just directed to a playground which honestly I can attend in Germany and America. I was really interested in doing the boat trip but I have gotten the vibe they are annoyed that I am a guest so I decided against it which is disappointing because I grew up boating. But for $600 dollars for 2 hours I didn’t want to feel that way on the boat. On the flip side they seem to be super friendly to the older aged guests so maybe they just prefer not to have younger people here. I am 26. My dads side of the family is from Norway so I was really looking forward to coming and I thought staying in a small village and a family run hotel would offer me more of a welcoming experience, I traveled far to get here so it’s hard not to be slightly disappointed but views are amazing, breakfast awesome, and rooms are clean and trendy. I am trying to make the most of my last 2 days here before heading onto the next adventure. One of the housekeepers did say hello to me and was very friendly so that was really nice to experience.

Bad employees, terrible service, and rude boss. Overpriced food, drinks and hotel. Didn't live up to its expectations, not even close to what you see on the internet. Not worth it at all, wasted time and money!

One of the best experiences I have ever had! The food is perfect, the service is excellent and the rooms are the most unique you'll ever see! Such a cozy small place with a lot of history!

Fantastic place in beautiful surroundings. The staff was welcoming and helpful, the room was nice with beautiful views over the harbour and the bed comfortable for tall people. don't miss out on the super fresh seafood in the restaurant .this place comes highly recommended.
