Bidrage med feedbackMetro Café (Boston) was one of our stops on the recent New England road trip I took with my wife and 1-year old son We needed a quick bite and I saw this on Google Maps so we walked over. HOLY. OPTIONS. The place is laid out like a huge cafeteria style deli with a big salad bar in the middle. You go up to the counter of your choice, order, they mark it up, and you pay on your way out. There were about ten different things I wanted to get but eventually I ordered a cold Seafood Salad sandwich that was absolutely ridiculous. I’m talking packed with meat! (I added a chipotle mayo as well). I got a PB J for my son and my wife made her own salad (priced by weight). I thought the price was pretty reasonable and it was super quick. The salad bar had a plethora of options and the employees there were friendly and answered my wife’s questions. I can’t recommend this place more for a quick and delicious bite to eat – I wish they had these in Western Pennsylvania!
I go here at least twice per week. Even though the lines look long at lunchtime it goes fairly quickly. Love the chicken salad and meatball sub.
What do you want to eat? Here 's the guide for navigating Metro: Walk in between two rows of cashiers shouting: Next, Next See snaking line of people waiting to pay. On left wall is all sort of things to grab and go and rows of fridges of soda, juice, etc. You can grab that stuff when you get in line to pay. Straight ahead is a saladbar, sold by the ounce, dressing is weighed too. There is pita bread by the half- slice. Left of the saladbar, but right of the line of people waiting to pay and the fridges is a line waiting to order sandwiches. Follow that counter to the right, there 's another counter for pizza, calzones, etc. . Walk along the wall to your right, there 's a tiny counter serving the soups, fried fish, chicken fingers, hot foods selections, meal deal of the day, heart healthy and comfort food selections. And the Burger of the Day with fries. Now you 're ready to get into the pay line, and get your napkins, flatware and condiments as you go out the door. Since you and your friends all made different food selections its better to pay individually and meet on the sidewalk outside. Don 't want to go unless you know what you want to order? Want to call in a take out order? Go on line to check out their menu. Where to take your lunch instead of your hotel or office? Find a bench by the Harborwalk, a table by the Children 's Museum down the street, or as a picnic on the grass in Children 's park. I always have a good meal here, and choices can be very tempting. I may start out wanting a salad and end up with short ribs. Nothing is particularly expensive, but if you really load up at the salad bar you have a $10.00 salad in no time at all! Soups are home-made and flavorful. Burgers are wonderful, heart healthy dishes are tasty. See you in line...Next!
A bit intimidating the first time you visit but this is a fast paced, good quality, take out lunch machine. Sandwiches, salad bar, hot items, a good mix of items at decent prices. Be careful where you stand if you haven't made up your mind there are a series of lines you could interfere with and you may feel a bit like you've stumbled into the Soup Nazi's next venture if you gum up the works.
Definitely have improved over the years but nothing awesome. Used to go here to grab a sandwich for lunch.
