Comensoli's - Kalamazoo

Comensoli's is our go-to for Italian. On this visit I enjoyed two of my favorites, the salad with arugula, beets and goat cheese, and the shrimp scampi. The salad was so fresh and the ingredients complement each other well. Their scampi is light, with a hint of garlic and lemon, a delightful dish for summer especially. A glass of chianti and excellent service from Julia made this a perfect meal.

We had reservations for 6:30pm on Mother's Day were seated immediately. Our server was fantastic! I had the Frusta Di Mare which was delicious. The shrimp were huge and the mussels were plentiful. Just be aware that the scallops are mini. My daughter had risotto with chicken and that was delicious as well. The food was hot. We both only ate half of our food as the serving sizes were large. I had tiramisu and daughter had a chocolate chip cannoli for dessert which both were amazing. I would recommend dining at Comensoli's and I will return when in Kalamazoo.

This restaurant is so hit or miss over the past 5 years. The four of us ordered all different items and mainly staples of the restaurant. The lasagna roll ups were dry and contained too much ricotta. The chicken parm lacked any real flavor and the chicken was dry. The exotic mushroom (which has always been a favorite of mine) tasted like pasta water with a dash of cream. The bread was so dry I didn't have enough water to choke it down. I'm sorry to say after coming to this restaurant for the past 20 years the food quality has gone downhill and I will not be back. It's time to check your recipes and make sure your chefs know what they are doing. If they know what they are doing, it's time to tweak those recipes.

My son brought his girlfriend for dinner before prom and they spent almost two hours at the restaurant, longer than they even spent at prom. Girlfriend is a picky eater but she loved her food and my son was happy as well. We don't go out to eat often, mainly due to cost however this is a family favorite where we go for special occasions. Thank you so much for your great food and service!

What a delightful surprise! A quaint, small sized Italian restaurant that served delicious food! I saw dinners being served all around that was mouth watering, bar none. Great service, great food and a very exceptional atmosphere that our party of four thoroughly enjoyed.
