Sam Choy's Kai Lanai - Kailua Kona

Service is excellent! Food is great! I love the semi-regal ribs. Moist and tender. I also love their location because you can see the ocean from your table. The bar is beautiful, which gives points to the ambience of the restaurant.

Really beautiful view and almost never busy when we go! I'm sure it's because we're there at lunch or early dinner, so there's never a waiting time and we get happy hour prizes! I think happy hour goes to 6:00 and includes cocktails and appetizers. We always enjoy our experience and eating it great!

I had often visited this restaurant when I had a guest in front of Kovid. This restaurant has a great sea view and it was a great pleasure to eat some nice food while enjoying the great view. But when Kovid met the island, I couldn't visit the restaurant. Before the Kovid this was my favorite restaurant in Kona, as my guest always liked here. However, the Kovid changed everything, including this restaurant. You now serve the food on the paper plate and you need to make an order from the reception. You have to pick up the food. You do everything except cooking. (Should we wipe off the table itself as it was wet) Okay! I understand about the Kovid. They are short of staff, and they are likely to try their best to put the restaurant on the right path. Then they must also think about the price or service. You said the server will come to take our order for the drink. But even after dinner no server came to us. Finally, the server came and took our order for the drink, but the drink did not finally come. You said the well machine didn't work properly. I was thirsty, but I couldn't ask her to get me some water because they were super busy. Even we got no service, we paid the full price including the top. When I made an order, I had to pay first, and I assumed that the service will be good. But it was terrible. I brought a guest to the restaurant, but I'm very sorry. I was so disappointed by Sam Choy, and I won't bring a guest here for this year. I'll probably try to find another alternative restaurant for my guest.

Friendly staff, great drinks, great views and solid happy hour snacks. It blows away to me how many of these reviews shy their style for this place. Be open on the island time when you treat the waitress with the respect they deserve, they will be happy to help you. The spring rolls with Korean Bbq sauce were delicious, the Calamari was in a form I never experienced and had a wonderful sauce to accompany them. The view was great. We spent our visit searching for different ships cruise along the coast.

Sam Choy?s has a wonderful scenic view of the ocean and the sunset, the highlight of this restaurant. Lovely fireplace tables and torches on the lanai. The food was good; I tried the Hawaiian style ribs and the egg rolls, and they were quite good. The sauces were a bit sweet/unbalanced, but still quite pleasant. Everyone in my party had high praise for the drinks and the fish dishes, as well as the beef stew! Our server was wonderful as well. Kind of odd that you have to order your food separately at the counter, but not a big deal.
