Bidrage med feedbackWe got 5 orders of the #2 beef noodle soup and were very happy with the meal. They did not skimp on the portions of meat/tendons/tripe/meatballs and the soup was rich and hearty for a cold winter day. The only reason why there's no 5th star is because the bean sprouts bag didn't come with the usual green leafy herbs I'm used to. The orders were done quickly for pickup however we took slightly longer to go get it. When we got there the owner let me know that I can request the noodles raw to be cooked at home so they wouldn't stick/clump together. This is def a tip I'll take for next time.
I wanted to like this place, but the broth was just so disappointing... It was very oily and murky, not like how pho broth is normally. The worst part was the beef powder taste in the broth, which tasted artificial and left me very thirsty and with a weird aftertaste. Even though we ate it within the minute it was served, the noodles were over cooked and too soft and expanded. The spring rolls and peanut sauce were okay, but we won't be coming back again.
Came for some authentic, no frills pho that is prepared by vietnamese cooks and servers that virtually speak no english but serve up amazing food. I used to come to "New Thanh Hoai, ' before they moved to this larger location in Jersey City and it has always been busy and a popular spot to get some really good pho. In addition to a big bowl of pho, I always order a grilled pork chop with rice and some spring rolls that are served with fresh veggies and a sweet side of fish sauce. The combination of these three make for a texturally satisfying and uber flavorful meal! The pho is some of the best bowl of noodles I have ever had, I have tried pho many places in many different neighborhoods but this pho is extremely complex in flavor and the broth tastes like it has been boiled over for countless hours. There are many types of pho you can order, trip, tendon, meatballs, beef, chicken, while I tend to go for a bowl with all the fixings. Prices are very reasonable, the only difficult part of getting to this Jersey City location can be the parking.
Just had lunch here and honestly overall it was pretty okay. Service was good, food was pretty mediocre but that may have been our fault for not ordering what they're popular for which is the PHO. It looked like a very neighborhoody spot which my boyfriend and I love for sure, and upon looking around, everyone had a HUGE bowl of pho. Unfortunately, all pho's were based in beef broth, even the vegetable pho : . So we ended up ordering other random items. See below for my notes! Service: Pros: -They sat us right away! -So sweet and helpful, answered all questions as best as possible -They came to take our order right away -All food was brought out so fast!! Cons: -Forgot our drinks and didn't offer water But they had complimentary tea : Food: This is where they really struggled hence the 3 star rating. Pros: -Shrimp summer rolls were refreshing -Peanut sauce was yummy! -Table sauces and condiments were plentiful Cons: -Shrimp lemongrass: Very simple, not much flavor, gelatinous bed of syrup. Shrimp could have used salt, pepper, other flavorings. -No spice at all, menu labeled as spicy dish. -Chicken lemongrass: Same as shrimp lemongrass... mediocre at best -Could have made all this and more at home, bland all around Can't really beat it for the price point but wouldn't recommend. There are better Vietnamese restaurants.
This place was amazing! Ate here last weekend for lunch with a friend and was really impressed with the service and food Pros Outdoor seating with comfortable distance between tables All servers wore masks and I saw hand sanitizer available Food came out quickly and was delicious. We both ordered the shrimp summer rolls and beef noodle soup Cons I don't really have any I noticed people saying the food is pricey, but I think it's well worth the cost. When we first sat down we were given complimentary tea, our food arrived very quickly after ordering, and service was very attentive Can't wait to go back and try more dishes!
