Bidrage med feedbackAwesome! Our waitress was amazing, the food flawless, and the atmosphere was relaxing. So glad we decided to bring the boys (8 and 12) here for a Friday dinner. The four fish sampler was great and the chocolate lava cake-wow!
Food was fantastic, waitress told us that a party of 36 got their orders in just before us and that our wait would be exceptionally long. After maybe 25 minutes our food was here. Even with that average wait they still took a drink and dessert off of our bill. Very good service and even better food. I have had mediocre experiences at Roy's in the last 3-4 years, glad to see their quality is back up at the top.
This was our first visit to Roy's and it was a pleasant experience. The restaurant has a very cozy and romantic atmosphere. Dim lighting adds to the ambience. The service was excellent, the manager on duty as well as the chef visited our table to make sure everything was as expected. I ordered the shellfish trio, which included a lobster tail, grilled shrimp and a large scallop. All of the seafood was prepared well and was flavorful. They are normally served with jasmine rice and veggies, but I opted for the mashed potatoes. They were flavorful and creamy and the asparagus was also cooked well. Roy's is a great place for date-night, but at $50 per entree and $13 drinks, it is very pricey, so it may be only a destination for special occasions.
I've read mixed reviews on service but our server was great. She was very knowledgable on all the menu items, gave good recommendations, checked-in enough replenished drinks. Loved the butterfish and blackened ahi but the favorite might have been the Lakanilau Roll which was Wagyu Beef on top of Snow Crab, Tempura Asparagus, Avocado and Sesame Miso Truffled Greens. For dessert, the server recommended Roy's Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé which is a Flourless Chocolate Cake with a molten hot center Raspberry Coulis Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. She said it was a popular pick but I prefer the fruity desserts so it was a toss up between the pineapple upside down and lime tart. We went with the first option and it was good. With that said, I'm not a huge dessert person so next time I'd probably opt to try another appetizer or sushi roll and skip dessert altogether. Savory over sweet! TIPS: If you want to avoid any waits, go early. We made a last minute reservation for 5:30 and it was practically empty. There's an Aloha Happy Hour (at the bar only) from 3-7 and their late night Aloha Happy Hour starts at 9. Jags season ticket holders: use your Teal Deal for $20 off!
We've listened to our neighbors rave about the happy hour at Roy's and decided we just needed to check it out for ourselves. They were right, it's pretty awesome! We snagged a few seats at the corner of the large wrap around bar. We were quickly and pleasantly greeted by Kat who went thru the Happy Hour menu and some of the highlights. Wifey went with some sort of vodka concoction and I had a glass of red wine. Jenn assisted at the bar keeping our drinks going and we decided to order a sushi roll. We went with the Sunrise at Haleakala Roll* Tuna Yellowtail Salmon Avocado Crispy Asparagus Roll. It came out from the kitchen pretty fast and it was amazing! For 2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine and an appetizer we were out the door, including tip for $43. Not a bad deal at all. Service, drinks and food were all great and the place has a good vibe. We'll def be back!
