Bidrage med feedbackWe weren't really sure where to have lunch but this looked as good as any so we stopped in. It was a busy afternoon and the streets were crowded. The food was good but if we had time to find another less crowded place, then that would have been a better choice.
On a recent trip to Innsbruck I had to realise that the traditional Gasthaus is either closed for business or now serving Chinese food, which is not exactly what I am after in Tyrol. So this place was a real find, since it is a proper restaurant rather than a cafe, easy to reach by public transport and best of all it had a menu when I visited that listed several vegetarian dishes! I had the Tiroler Schlutzkrapfen, which were drowning in butter, just as they should be. My carnivore partner was happy, too. The white house wine (Grüner Veltliner) was outstanding for a house wine. I am not a fan of the interior design, but don't let that put you off, this is an excellent place to have a meal at very good prices.
Easy to get to by walking along the Inn Promenade or by Tram. Unfortunately the outdoor seating faces a main road junction and not the river. Only one waitress, who was overworked trying to serve everyone. We waited ages for a menu, then again to order and again for food to come. Very average food (and no Vegetarian items available), so quite a disappointing visit. The Schnitzel was 'OK ', but the Chicken on the salad had a very 'odd ' flavour. Couldn 't wait for dessert as the mains had taken nearly 2 hours and we had a train to catch!
The most remarkable of this place was the waiter (he was also tending the bar). Utmost careful, welcoming and winsome guy. Another big value here is running without days-off. Absolutely recommended for Sunday. Some eateries in the historic center also work on Sundays but this place is far more heartful and not overpriced. The serves here are not as big as you often get in Tirol. Locals mostly drink here, although the kitchen cookery is quite decent. The restaurant has no menu in English but the waiter was talking English enough to help choosing and receive an order. Location is not very central but some buses and a tram have their stop near. After your dinner you can also have a nice walk on the Inn river promenade that begins right here and leads to the downtown. I have seen that they have inexpensive lunch menu but didn't tried it (yet place is too far from midday touristic paths).
I visited this restaurant several times while in Innsbruck. It is very highly recommended and you would love to taste new food experience and taste. Very professional staff and service.
