Bidrage med feedbackTLDR: Classic Pizza King with a train and friendly staff. Breadsticks are forgettable, salads are terrible, but the pizzas are solid! Pizza is also great when delivered. Dining areas could use extra cleaning and a shame they use Styrofoam for to go drinks, as it's not eco friendly. Four stars for food and service. Craved Pizza King on my visit to Indy and my mom and I went to this location. I have also had delivery the week prior. 1. Location is well maintained. Interior booths could use extra cleaning, specifically the train windows had kids smushed fingers prints all over it. 2. Service was very friendly. Our server was a teen girl who was extremely friendly and sweet. 3. The trains are still pretty cute. I could have lived without a big patriotic train though with eagles and flags all over it. But, Indiana loves its patriotic stuff. 4. We tried pretzel breadsticks at my mom's choice. They were bearable, but, I've never been a fan of Pizza King breadsticks. They were pretzel in look, but had no salt on them. I ate one and called it the quits. 5. We asked for potato skins but they were out, they have not been able to find a new supplier for potato skins so they are not offering them at this time. 6. I had a salad when I got my pizza delivered and thought it was a screw up shredded iceberg lettuce like is served on tacos with one tiny chopped tomato and cubed mozzeralla on top. It was terrible, but the Italian dressing was great. Turns out this is how some locations serve their salads. I will not get it again. 7. Was happy to see our sodas and waters served in reusable plastic cups. I have been frustrated by the amount of single use plastic and Styrofoam in Indianapolis. The to go cups are Styrofoam. I really wish they'd move away from that and modernize to something more eco friendly (paper or biodegradable). 8. 10' cheese pizza was delicious and hit the spot in that unique PK way! I'd go back to this location, but, would like to check out others next visit. The one I grew up with is in Greenwood and has moved from its original location. However, the trains are fun and a unique attraction. p.s. If they would have had a t shirt with the King on it I would have bought one in black!!
The Breadsticks Sampler appetizer was a great way to start our dinner. Four different types of breadsticks that we could sample, and determine which ones we liked the best. My son, who ordered the kid's pepperoni pizza, loved each and every bite, and could not stop. My wife and I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Ranch Pizza, but it did not meet our expectations. Although the crust was light and crispy there was only a swirl of Buffalo sauce on the chicken and cheese. This pizza was more reminiscent of a ranch chicken not a buffalo chicken. Otherwise the service was great.
Absolutely love it. I used to come here as a kid in the 90’s and while visiting with my two boys decided to bring them here. I was so pleasantly surprised that this place is like a time warp. It was exactly as I remember it and the food was delicious. Love that it hasn’t been updated and created such a special experience for me, my sister and my two boys!
Love trains? Love pizza? Coke check out the total nostalgia space. Wall to wall floral wallpaper, tiny tvs at your table and of course the train for drinks! Their pizza is still amazing, but rather pricey for a quick lunch. Good variety on their menu, but missed a star for me when this location didn’t have cinnamon sticks for dessert. The variety of breadsticks is cool. Service was great during a weekday lunch. I enjoyed my time there with friends and had a yummy meal. Go out of the way if you or your kids love trains, you won’t regret it!!
We had a tough time finding a location to host my son's 3rd birthday party, but a friend suggested Pizza King at the corner of Southport and Bluff for their spacious party room. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Dave, who showed us to our room. It was incredible! The party room was huge, with ample seating and several tables, easily accommodating 45 or more guests. With 25 attendees, we felt very comfortable. The room featured arcade games and a TV, allowing us to keep an eye on the Colts game happening during the celebration. A door separated the room from the main restaurant, and another door led to the patio area, which we were able to use. Since it was December, only smokers used the patio, but it was great not to disturb the other diners with continuous foot traffic. Regarding the food, we ordered three large 16-inch pizzas, each costing around $16. We kept the toppings simple with two cheese and one pepperoni for the kids. The pizza was delicious, cut into perfect party-sized squares. Two families at our gathering also ordered additional pizzas, but we ended up with leftovers, which was ideal. The drink service was very convenient as well. Dave asked what we wanted and provided pitchers and ice for self-service. They charge per person for the first drink, then offer unlimited refills, so you don't have to pay per pitcher. We reserved the room for five hours, allocating an hour for setup, an hour for cleanup, and three hours for the party. I brought two rolls of quarters for the kids to play games, and they all had a blast! I appreciated the private room and patio area, and it would be great for a summer party with the option to utilize both indoor and outdoor spaces. The costs were quite reasonable: we only paid for the three pizzas and drinks, with a 20% gratuity added for the room, which is standard. Overall, it came to around $120, which is a fraction of what I would have spent at Chuck E. Cheese or other venues we considered. I have to give a special shout-out to Dave, our server, who was outstanding! Everyone at the restaurant was friendly, and Dave treated us like family. He was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond what I've experienced from servers elsewhere. We’ve definitely found a new favorite spot for family gatherings! Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
