Bidrage med feedbackFirst time visit with my wife. We both ordered the fish and chips sandwiches. Side dishes were acceptable, but the fish chips were terrible, full of thick crusty batter, and four pieces about the size of a man 's thumb. It was all batter and hardly any fish....very disappointed, but willing to make allowance for new kid on the block restaurant, but only if management takes corrective action, which they didn 't express an interest in checking it out for themselves the day of our visit even though the courteous and efficient waitress asked for an honest opinion of our meal, which we extended. Would only recommend to a friend with the above caution noted regarding our experience.
The Benford salad and the chop salad are the best salad I have ever had. The black cherry vinerette dressing is fabulous. We usually go there at least once a week.
Arrived at the restaurant at about 8:15pm with my date and was immediately seated in a cafeteria type atmosphere. After waiting for a few minutes we were half heartily greeted by a young, inexperienced waitress who barely dropped off the menus and took our drink order, and never even introduced herself or welcomed us. Shortly we receiving our water and “non-bar” drinks she then took our food order then left before asking the salad dressing choices. As our waitress passed our table at around 8:35 I called to her and asked where our drinks were? With “oh I’m sorry, let me go check” and off she went. Now for what we ordered that evening was very simple, my date ordered the fettuccini Alfrado with shrimp, and I was having what they call a black forest salad with grilled chicken. Simple enough? After our waitress finally appears with the bar drink at 8:45 and tells us our food will be out shortly. Okay, and we wait. As we are waiting we notice that other patrons in the place seem to have the same frustration as we have with the service. Finally at 9:10pm we receive our food. And with no apologizes for lateness. Food was fair at best, probably tainted by the long wait and poor service. We did not see our waitress the rest of the night, after waiting again for even the check we finally decided enough is enough. I tossed some cash on the table that should have covered our meal and walked out. The wait staff is like a bunch of high school girls working at their best friend’s dad’s restaurant with no regard for the service they provide. I would suggest they get some professional help, and leave the school kids at home doing their homework! Would not recommend this place to anyone, well maybe adolescent boys with no regard for taste and time on their hands.
I was trying things off of everyone else’s plate. The food is totally awesome! This place is The Bomb. Sure, all new restaurants go through things at first. They Have It All Under Control Now. You HAVE to try this place!!! The earlier the better because it gets packed FAST!!!
When George’s in Avalon Crossing at 71st and Binford first opened, their wait staff left customer’s glasses empty and table dishes to become collector items. The menu, listing the items they were out of was like the credits for War and Peace. However, we found hope in that George’s was so bad they had to get better. Besides the neighborhood was rooting for them. After eliminating wait staff, whose focus was on all long they ignore the customer they tackled the menu. On my last visit in October, 2007 the wait staff was focused on the customers and the management was prowling the tables to insure customer satisfaction. The soup was excellent and the Binford’s Black Forest Salad fresh. George’s is family friendly and yes…worth the visit. Unlike some restaurants, they learned for their mistakes.
