We were staying at the hotel and were lucky to have selected half board which entitled us to courses at l'Esperance each evening. This would normally cost per person (or for courses). Some of the meals have an extra fee but...we managed to eat something different for four nights without incurring this cost. Everything we tried was absolutely brilliant with the meat being cooked a little longer than I would have expected for a French restaurant. I'd particularly recommend the starter When the mountain meets the sea (cold meats and prawns) and the veal was particularly good. I was a little surprised as to how cold the red wines were which we had. I always thought that they should be severed around room temperature but then I'm no connoisseur.
This restaurant can be found inside the Grandes Rousses Hotel which is open to non-guest of the hotel. A colleague who had previously stayed at the hotel recommend we give it a try when we were in town. The food was absolutely delicious from start...to finish. There was also an array of wines to choose from. To start, I had the crispy warm goat cheese salad which was served on a bed of well seasoned greens. The main course was a beef filet cooked to perfection with a creamy morilles sauce, potatoes gratin dauphinois and crispy sautéed vegetables. The dessert was not only beautiful but also unique with rose flavoured macaroon and sorbet!! We will be back next time we are in town! I was glad to know we could enjoy a meal at the restaurant without staying at the hotel.

Christian
